As far as I know HL2’s development did begin in 1998 when it was still using GoldSrc
but my knowledge on the subject is extremely null considering i’m just going with what the Combine OverWiki says.

Wouldn’t it be many times more useful to use the space above forum threads to explain how we can be useful to the project, than to mock some 13 year old kid from Indonesia? (you might be very unpleasantly surprised by the criminal charge for causing emotional stress to a minor, btw)

To everyone here who is defending BM and devs: Ignore J-Dude. He already show that he deserves no respect here. And dude: you can do your best writing walls of text with full sentences as answers, but there is something that leaked: you are losing, and know that. To avoid flamming, you started to write apologies mixed with an “I am superior and I forgive you” aura, of course making this last part no very well hidden.
Saying you are intelligent, blah, blah, blah, only reforces this fact. No doubt you are good with words, but all the time you gave us examples of situations (dog angry, cold pizzas, etc), and never really explained your personnal opinion, only posted something to make your over-inflated ego happy. Hitler was this kind of person too: emotional speeches with lack of content, while blamming etnical minorities.

I was expecting this tbh… mainly cause it happens to most things I look forward to at the moment 
but seriously, enjoy the holiday season devs. CAn’t wait to see BM when you’re done with it.
I wasn’t really expecting the mod to make it this year, so my disappointment is not so bad. I think all of us appreciate you informing us of the delay and doing it so early in December, instead of making it a Christmas surprise.
Please, for the love of all that you hold dear, do not let the haters’ comments get to you! Don’t heed the morons bashing you now! You are doing an awesome job on an astounding project, and have always done so since the beginning.
You are working your asses off, sacrificing your spare time, at the same time trying to maintain these forums here, and this already for a couple of years, all just to give us, the gamers, the community, the pleasure of replaying half-life one day and having a whole lot of fun doing so, making it a new gaming experience, not only with new graphics, but also better level design, improved puzzles, more spectacular scripts, and so on, and so on…
And all this for free.
I think that is what all users should think through first before posting some random trolling, just because you have to take some more time to finish your product - only to (and this still astonishes me) give it to us as a gift.
Noone of us have the right to criticize what you are doing with the mod or how you are doing it or how long it takes you to do it.

The delay was expected if I’m honest, not because I didn’t think you were capable, but because you’re all clearly perfectionists and not ready to push the mod out the door all for the sake of a deadline which you made yourselves. If anything, it shows that you care more for the quality of a mod which you’ve devoted years of your lives to than the satisfaction of a small forum. And that’s how it should be - if you cared more for us then the mod would, quite frankly, be terrible and filled with the most retarded ideas.
Stick by what you promised in the first place - a quality mod. Anyone who insults you about it is just trying to antagonise you, as I’m sure you know. Fuck it - you really don’t owe us much. I’m not even sure you owed us an explanation. I don’t really care if no developer says another word until the mod is out. All the forums do is hamper things and come up with silly ideas.

I’m sure there’s not a decided date, they’ve only just recently announced it won’t make the release in 2009, I’m sure the dev’s have an estimated date. But that’s not for you to know.

You just seemed to be, wrong assumption I guess. It would be fantastic (or the worst nightmare ever) if BM and EP3 were released at the same time or with a very small gap between them. Valve may (hence the MAY) know when BM is going to be released but the BM team doesn’t know when EP3 will. It’s not a competition but if EP3 is released first, it will clearly get a lot more attention than the mod. The first 24-48 hours after the release are crucial.

I think Ep3 might come out Sometime around Autumn 2010.
The best thing about the new announcement is that it resets the release estimate to “when it’s done”. Mod devs should take all the time they need to finish the mod properly and should never rush to make it to a release at a specific date just to avoid displeasing the fan base.
Problem is, from my own experience anyway, that missing development checkpoints, going out of schedule and failing/postponing personal goals is very rough on the developers and their morale, multiple times more than it is on any fan. It’s probably even harder when the main development is done, and all that’s causing delays is bug fixing, testing and minor updates.
So, I’d go as far as to say that the devs are the ones that want this mod to be finally released the most. If anything, the thing to worry about is the devs losing their excitement/hype… I believe fan support at this time helps greatly. Writing essays about how dissapointed you are with the recent turn of events, does not.
