Why do you people not understand what a flop is?
darkspore.
just played beta for 10 minutes.
Feeling the RSI already.
Homefront was (duh) made by kaos studios, who made frontlines fuel of war.
after seeing some of their trailers for multiplayer its not a cod4 clone its a frontlines clone. I just want to know if they’ve toned down the Full blown run and gun and made it decent or if its crappy as ever. They had problems with helicopters that wouldn’t stationary hover and jets in maps that are too small to hold them.
If they really didn’t bother to iron out the fundamental problems during the cloning process. It’s gonna be a 2011 bust. Kinda dissapointed/disgusted with how great all the pre-reviews were when I found out who the dev team really was.
Frontlines is [OK] I reinstall it every now and then for both single and multi, but it would be better so much better if it played out with movement and actual fights, like its singleplayer. and that is if you played it like a soldier and not like a f-16 AK-47 wielding chicken.
If you’re not going to have a demo. It means you have something to hide.
Just because a game sells a lot doesnt make it good. take Cod games for example. Sells a lot but sucks ass. Sells a lot doesn’t make it a non-flop.
And I’m ranting based on Multiplayer. If I ever play games from these crap dev teams its only going to be for Singleplayer. But activision sucks both ways.
End Rant.
Homefront WAS a flop. It had 2007 graphics and was a fairly average game to say the least. MW3 as well- I see this as the turning point in shooters. Even Activision says the creators are running out of steam and this next game will not even come close to MW2’s sales. Coupled with the fact that BF3 is coming out right before MW3… BF shall be the new lead world FPS franchise
Give up smnrndm, this is like trying to teach blind people what colors are.
I SLIGHTLY misused a word in a title but the meaning was still stunningly clear. STFU and deal with it.
And no Maxey, I get what he’s saying, I just don’t give a shit. Only an idiot would argue so vehemently over unimportant semantics.
Dictionary definition of flop: A total failure. Something can be a total failure from consumer eyes or from critics eyes or any eyes. Congrats, not only did you start a meaningless argument over unimportant semantics, you also lost a meaningless argument over unimportant semantics.
Try actually naming the thread what you wanted it to be about then. As is, its totally unrelated.
I named the thread what I wanted it to be about and what it is about. It’s about what do you consider a flop. Not what do publishers/critics/the public consider a flop which you are convinced is the sole meaning of flop.
Once again, GTFO.
Def – I don’t like it but I get what you mean.
By the way, your profile picture makes me nostalgia; Torment = hell yeah.
Probably not.
I recall there being an announcement that BF3 will cater to PC gamers first.
While that is the right move, it means the console market comes second, which will probably not bode well for BF3 sales.
On a side note, if Brink flops, I’m going Columbine.
I’d like to see you make him :retard:
Anyways, to the post directly above me, I really hope Brink doesn’t flop. It looks like it’ll be pretty great.
Not necessarily. Half-Life 2 was made specifically for the PC but when it was ported to the 360 on the Orange Box it sold extremely well. Usually the only reason cross-platform doesn’t work out properly is if a developer makes a game for a console, and then just does a half-assed port to the console gamers.
The same could be said for Call of Duty 2 or 4, I’m not sure what the lead platform for those was, but they were very well made for both the PC and the 360, and sold extremely well on both platforms (4 moreso than 2).
Well BF3 has been pretty openly advertised as better on the pc and I think that’ll hit consolefags’ pride and make them not want to buy it. Just as I’m sure xbox players resent Portal 2 for being better on the ps3. The one thing is the console fags I’ve talked to haven’t even heard any news about the pc version, so maybe they won’t be offended simply out of ignorance.
I don’t think the majority of the consumers that multiplayer FPS caters to are the people we think of with “console-fag” or “PC-Fag”. What makes a game a hit are the silent majority, so yes there will be fanboys that get turned off by the fact that its better on another platform but no it won’t really effect sales.
I call just about anyone who exclusively plays consoles and thinks pc gaming is shit a console fag. Which is A LOT of console players. But I get what you mean, and I think you’re probably right; the biggest consumer demographic consists of moderates who really won’t care or even know that the pc version is better.
What about when the PC version isn’t better? Ever play the Halo ports?
Call of Duty 4 was better for the PC than the 360 in my opinion and I’m almost 100% sure it sold better on the 360. Just because it’s better for one platform than the other doesn’t mean it won’t sell. The OB was shit on the PS3 but obviously it still sold copies.
Well the big difference is now the pc version is miles better and the devs are advertising it. If the devs don’t come out and say it console players will just deny how much better the pc version is.
I bet Halo sales suffered a lot from that. Especially Halo 2 for going Vista only for not other reason than pushing the os.
Believe it or not, its not really the ignorant “console fags” who ruin games like PC gamers tends to think they do. They may not have half a shit clue about the differences between platforms but they can usually tell a good game from a bad one. And bad games selling is the real problem not bad ports, a bad port of a good game is still a good game at its core unless its a preformace issue which typically isn’t the case although it some times can be.
The real problem is the demographic of gamers who don’t know anything at all, they aren’t involved AT ALL in games and strictly go based off of advertizements. The reason you see less of these people on PC is because there isn’t aggressive advertizement for PC. Unfortunately this is the demographic you see that pushes games big time, this is the demographic that goes nuts for CoD and no I am not saying anyone who plays Cod is this type of person but people who pretty much only play cod or think its the best game ever.
How does this relate to the actual topic, it says my opinion on if BF 3 will be good. And that doesn’t depend on what platform they dev for, its what audience they target, and since EA wants to dethrone CoD its most likely the uneducated consumer. I only hope EA/ DICE realize that the game doesn’t have to suffer as a quality product (IE it doesn’t have to be just like CoD) for this and that IMO all they have to do to get those sales are to increase advertizement (which actually according to a news article i read they will be aggressively marketing this).
