What do you think will be the worst/over-hyped games this year?
I think homefront. It looks like it’s just a really badly made CoD clone.
Hey, I like THQ, Homefront does look ominously similar to CoD, and I very much hope it isn’t.
I feel rather dubious about MGS Rising, I don’t think it’s going to be very good. Also, while I do like MMO’s, I don’t think TOR is going to be my style, never really been big on Star Wars.
I think that GOW3 is going to be the exact same game as GOW2, they were pretty good games, but to me, they were repetitive, and the multiplayer was boring.
I hope you’re wrong about Homefront, I’m not a military shooter fan in the slightest, but they’ve been saying all the right things when it comes to their approach withe campaign (not that what the Devs say counts for much pre-release, but still).
I smell a flop with Duke Nukem Forever. I think I’ll have a blast with it and get my money’s worth, but most of the previews I’ve read were lukewarm at best, so I think the general gaming public might find it too “boring” or “old school.” I hope I’m wrong though, Gearbox is one of the last big independents, and a flop of that size could kill them.
How about we forget this thread for now and get back to it at the end of the year eh?
I was in the homefront beta, it has some CoD similarities, but it does it’s own thing with it.
well THQ said that the game will be a little bit more like Half-Life instead of Cod…so I 'm putting my eye on this game.
It seems a wee bit premature to make a gaming flops thread before most games have been released. Perhaps a ‘gaming flops of 2010’ would be more appropriate?
Portal 2 will be über bad and if it comes out than Episode 3 will suck too
But that would just consist of a whole thread full of people posting about Black Ops. It’s just too damn predictable.

Because we’ve already talked 2010 to death, as Maxey said. It’d be me more fun to predict failures. Speaking of which, MW3. Come on, we all know they’re going to make it. I really really hope CoD’s sales start reflecting it’s quality. But I guess there’s a pretty slim chance of that.
I watched some more gameplay. The setting does feel kind of half-life esque, but gameplay wise it looks even more like CoD than CoD does; massive swarms of enemies, run right out in to the middle of them and shoot at them until they are almost dead and then wait for your health, run back out, wait for your health, etc.

I think that will be Uncharted 3. I know it’s a PS3 exclusive, and it’s a good franchise at all, and most important, the third game will be the most superior to other two, but there is just too much hyping-fapping on it. I just don’t get it.
Also I don’t see any particular reason to think about Homefront as something spcial. Whether it’s a Cod clone or not, it’s just an ordinary, middle-score game.
I don’t think homefront is going to be a massive success, but it won’t be a flop either.
At this point the most likely is DNF, although its not that likely.

Shouldn’t we be doing this at the start of 2012? Seriously? There is no point in speculation oh what you think will be a flop, then referring to it as a flop. How often have we been suprised before in gaming? Oh yeah, all the time.

Anyway, Mindjack is a flop. The game is shit, it has many bugs, shitty plot, and tries to be like other games such as Gears of War… :awesome:
I’ve read extensive articles on Homefront (having a subscription to an Xbox magazine and a daily commute) and to anyone who reckons it will be a call of duty clone, you may be pleasantly surprised…
The beginning of the single player campaign draws a lot of parallels to Half Life 2’s opening chapter
IMO, it looks way more like Battlefield than CoD. Large levels, vehicles, large games. I’m reserving my judgement until it comes out and I get to try it. IMO it looks like it has potential if they did everything right.
Personally, I’m hoping Dragon Age 2 and Portal 2 don’t suck. I hated Dragon Age and am glad that they’re changing the combat for it’s sequel. Portal wasn’t very good IMO. Sure, GLaDOS was interesting, but the level design was pretty boring and the puzzles were very easy. Plus, I’m not big into puzzles, so that’s another thing against Portal 2.
