BFTP: Rise of the Triad Demo

Blast from the Past presents:

Rise of the Triad Demo
1 Extract Folder
2 Run Dosbox.exe

Is ROTT abandonware? If so, someone needs to remake it in Source or a real 3d engine.

nah, there is a shitty win32 port here (sorry Birger), but you’re better off running it through DB

I absolutely love ROTT, I actually set up a DosBox last summer to run through it again (then my senior year of college started and games kinda went by the wayside).

ROTT makes me think of all the great games I grew up playing - Duke3D, Blake Stone, Doom, Half-Life, Shadow Warrior, Realms of Chaos, etc. Come to think of it, most of those are 3DRealms and Apogee haha

I don’t know how I feel about a ROTT port - one part of me says, “Yeah, bring it back to life, make it modern!” but another says, “Leave it in the past, enjoy it for what it is - a great FPS from the 90s with fun gameplay”.

nostalgia

Wasn’t it one of the first FPS to have dual-wielding?

If you’re asking whether or not the game permitted dual-wielding, the answer is yes - you could select using 1 or 2 pistols (and it didn’t require you to drop one; you just pressed 1 for 1 and, surprisingly, 2 for 2).

If you know for a fact that you could dual-wield, but are questioning whether ROTT pioneered this feature, then I’m not sure :stuck_out_tongue: .

rhetorical question.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
