Best Half-Life or Half-Life Source mod?

I’m wanting to replay Half-Life one but want a visual boost. Does anyone have any suggestions for the BEST high poly count, hi res texture, or just the best overall HD mod that will hold me over till Black Mesa is released? I have both the original and source so it could be a mod for either one. Thanks for all who help!

P.S. I know there are countless other threads about this same question but I want an updated list.

I think there’s one for either Source or the original on the homepage of the HL2 filefront page. The crowbar looks almost exactly like the HL2 crowbar.

There’s an HL source shader mod, but it’s really cheesy looking. It’s basically just ENB series. All it does is add bloom really.

Yeah I saw a youtube video of that, and it looked stupid. I’m kinda looking for something with higher res textures and higher polygon count models.

Default HL looks way better than any of those ugly “HD packs”

So there are NO good ones?

I’d play the original Half-Life and when Black Mesa is released I’ll play that to be even more astonished of the visual difference. Maybe you can bypass the time until Black Mesa by playing the mod “Sweet Half-Life”, I think it is the best one for Half-Life I have played.

half-life Gold on moddb

HL Gold

Thanks for the suggestions, keep em coming if anyone has any more! Downloading HL Gold now!

OMG HL GOLD IS SO MUCH BETTER!! Just what I wanted! Thanks for the suggestions and sorry for the double posts!

You should try the balckmeasmod

LOL maybe some day I’ll get to!

I recommend HL Gold for vanilla HL. But for source i would recommend Half-Life: Source Enhanced mod With HLS Enhanced shaders.

Paranoia?

some would say you will…
some may say you wont…
but Gordon Freeman would say
‘’…’’
Touching words.

Sweet hl, and paranoia for sure (but i don’t know how to install this).

Thanks for the info, I’m using this now. The only thing I cant figure out is how to get the enhanced shaders to work. Once I drop them in the folder HLS freezes when I boot it up.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
