Best Alienware M11x for PCSX2

Which Alienware M11x (other than the i7 series) is best for running PCSX2? I know that the M11x can run WoW maxed out and some source games with high settings. But which is best for PCSX2? I had 2 in mind:

  1. Alienware M11x
Power for High Definition gaming and ultra portability in a single laptop is no longer a fantasy! Now with Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor.
    Cost: $1,299.

or:

  1. Alienware M11x
Ultra mobile gaming laptop with Intel® Core™ i5 processor & bigger storage capacity for better performance!
    Cost: $1,499.30.

Which one? (Also, does 2. have dual core or is it single?)

Uh no, pretty much every CPU Intel makes these days are either dual, quad or hexacore (physically).

WoW maxed out and some source games high settings??? That’s nothing. You can probably play Crysis on medium-high settings on those two set ups. If all you want to do is run a ps2 emulator I highly doubt you’d need something as expensive as an alienware laptop. And if you do want to get an alienware laptop why play old ps2 games? Do what the machine is made for and play some newer games made for pc.

Crysis on an M11x

It would be cheaper to just buy a PS2 anyway…

well, it is actually better to buy a ps2, but i dont want it, because im definitely going 2 buy an alienware laptop, so i thought id get the one that runs pcsx2 better. if ps3 was able to run ps1-ps2 games, there wouldnt be this prob anyways > :frowning:

But anyways, if the m11x i5 cpu is dual core, then im sure that one would be better (for the pcsx anyways). I love ps2, makes me feel nostalgic.

btw, is alienware really that expensive? i find that $1,300 for an m11x is better that most deals in retail stores.

Alienware is insanely overpriced for what you get, like Apple.

Don’t get Alienware. Buy from some other more-trusted company and get far MORE power for far LESS money, and better reliability and support.

The M11 is actually a decent deal compared with other Alienware boxes.

Like ASUS. Very well priced, durable, great cooling, available in many stores (even Best Buy), etc. etc.

EDIT: to fnoigy’s post

Well, if all you really care about is running a ps2 emu then either system should work. I don’t know much about pcsx2 or how much power it takes but it’s definitely gonna be less than Crysis. If money is at all important in your decision, either buy the cheaper alienware or buy from another company that will give you a better deal. Like others said asus is pretty good.
