avi to Dvd player?

Hey, I was wondering if there were any good ways out there for burning an avi file onto a dvd-r in a format that can be played by a Dvd player. if it makes any difference, my Dvd player is pretty old.

not shelling out money is preferable.

I use nero vision but there are many free solutions just use Google.

first result in google returned this.

Also Nero is a great program, but I usually use DVD Architect Pro 4.5(not cheep)

Yeah, DVD Architect ftw

But definitely not free.

Windows has its own dvd maker, although it finalises the dvd and you cannot edit it again.

DvdStyler will both help make a pretty menu and automatically transcode your avi. It’s completely free and has never given me any problems.

dvd flick worked for me too.

I used the built in DVD burner on windows vista to burn about 20 discs, they all work fine, you just don’t get as customisable menus.

id recommend tmpgenc dvd authoring tools

Also, ConvertXtoDVD is a good one, although the free version leaves a watermark I believe.

ConvertX software is still around? They were big like back when DVD first became popular.

Yeah man, I think the latest version is ConvertXtoDVD 4. Not sure what the restrictions for the trial version are.
