I don’t see a sequel being very good at all. I don’t want a sequel :’(

Iron Man 2 sounds tight though.

I can understand the logic of no sequel, but honestly, people are going to want to experience what James’ can see in his mind again, I doubt it would be a flop, he would take the time and effort to make it as impacting as before. If he doesn’t make a sequel, then I want to see another 3D movie by him within the next three years to say the least.

And looking at Iron Man two…check itttttt!

I thought this movie was sooooo an attempt to rehash and retell the “brutality of the colonization of the Americas and slaughter of the Native Americans” and it felt kind of preachy to me. Except that this time all of the hokey naturism pagan bullcrap turned out to actually be true and all of the spirit animals came and kicked the shit out of the white man and drove him back to Europe.

So what’s your point? There are a lot of movies that are like a lot of other movies.

On the Movie:
I’m going to restate what most of you have said. The movie was absolutely stunning. I’m a strong believer in good looking environments in games/movies and this just blows anything I’ve ever seen out of the water. Lord of the Ring, and Transformers can kiss their tied first place position goodbye. AVATAR is just simply the best.

Not only were the visuals stunning but the story line was also amazing. Simply imagine that it’s completely original and none of the plot has ever been used before, and think about it. Yeah it’s good. (I mean come on, FurnGully was an awesome movie when we were little eh?) There was a perfect amount of stupid cheesy, serious, laughable, and sad moments to make the story line flow perfectly.

The actor for Neytiri, Zoe Saldana, did an excellent job at acting out all of her parts be them when when she was happy, annoyed, hissing, or upset. The main character, Jake Sully, also did a wonderful job of acting all of his emotional moments. (There were a few)

Putting all of that aside, if you swear allegiance to the flag every morning and your life goal is to join the military you aren’t necessarily going to enjoy the government/military slandering. The movie very blatantly hates the military, and pumps it into the ground with negativity. (I’m not complaining, I hate the military. Some people however found it offensive)
On the plus side, the movie is very positive about Native rites, land rites, and the environment. You really have to watch the movie to understand, but I have a feeling that any Native people from any countries are going to thoroughly enjoy this movie.

On a Sequel: VAGUE SPOILERS
I could see a sequel being really nice. However, the same plot could not be used. Those who have seen it know what I’m talking about, ‘rawr my unobtanium etc… etc…’
It should be about adventures they have ON the planet, maybe something in the Bio Network goes wrong.
I wont go too far into it, but to say the plot would need to be original this time to make ANYONE like it.

Going to see it again here at 2:35EST. And I agree with your sequel thought Zageron, only bit, is that people will bitch it’s like Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Which in a sense is completely bogus since there isn’t a person causing it to go a-wall.

I personally think they would do better to make shorts with the world. Short amazing looking adventures that go in front of movies, or on the Internet. Using a beautiful world like that…

+1
That would be awesome. I would love to see this become a television series.

To keep the same graphics, the budget would be WAY too high to keep up with.

No, it wouldn’t.
The technology they used to create the movie is what cost a lot. The technology is now in existence, so they can use it as much as they want for a much lower price.

There is a really cool story behind the filming of it.

One thing to keep in mind though, the “bad guys” are not the military, they are a private contractor employed by a corporation. It’s not a parallel to the US Military (or the USMC more specifically) but it draws a comparison to the Blackwater, DynCorp Mercenaries we see today. It’s essentially the companies private Army to capture and secure hostile environments.

Personally, I’m joining the US Army in a couple months (i’m really into the military) and i didn’t find the movie offensive at all.

P.S. how jacked was that Colonel for an old dude, Jesus Christ.

Who said anything about it being like another movie? I said it was obviously a sci-fi retelling of European colonization, except that this time the Natives are 15 foot tall blue giants who kick whitey’s ass. Don’t get so defensive guy.

Kind of hard to call a movie about giant blue guys racist i guess but the whole Last samurai “White guy shows up and becomes even better than the natives at their own culture in no time flat and saves them” shit kinda bugs me.

He’s the main character.
He’s also the chosen one.

Therefor he is automatically better than they are. No average Joe could come along and do what he did. That was the point.

on the other hand the whole planet is a combination of blacklight paintings and roger dean album covers dunno if ive seen a film more aimed at being watched w/ drugs

Didn’t you like the environments? The trees, the rocks, the roots, the foliage?

:frowning:

i did that was a positive comment

how come sigourney weavers smurf had a human nose

Well that’s good. Because the environments were the highlight of that movie. I’d really like to see a world like this in Virtual Reality when we get it.

Blackwater: they are (expensive and very well trained) body guards and glorified mall cops
they are not mercenaries by any measure; I’m not sure why people keep referring to them as such
