I just got back from the theaters and saw Avatar in Imax 3D. I must say, that was the best visual experience I have ever had in a movie theater. The story isn’t amazing, but the visuals are absolutely breathtaking. I highly recommend everyont go out and see it. It is truly a movie gem.
Fucking fantastic movie. The thought that went into the creation of Pandora was utterly awe-inspiring, as were the visuals of the world. Add main characters I like and bad guys I hate, and the whole movie was an overall great experience. Definitely memorable, if only for the visuals. Oh, and the main character is an absolute badass.
So not so epic of a story, but a good popcorn movie? I’m sold. I love popcorn.
I hear it was pretty solid, but didn’t look super fantastic. I might just wait to watch it elsewhere.
Oh, there’s lots of “America/the government sucks, nature is awesome” propaganda in the movie.
Yea, there was, but I was willing to ignore the political slanderish stuff to enjoy the amazing visuals of the movie. It seemed like they liked to imply alot of things about US government actions in there, such as the Trail of Tears and possibly a different take on the war in iraq, but this time, they’re blue.
It’s alot like a rollercoaster ride.
Not only in that you know it’s gonna be a thrill, but also because you already know where you’re going. But you also know you’ll love it.
Plus it’s the FUCKING PRETTIEST ROLLERCOASTER EVAR MADE
Avatar: its the new Transformers.
Awesome movie btw.
No. Just no dude.
Best movie ever, watched the premier of it a day before it came out. Was the first time I ever watched people clap and cheer at the ending. The audience was really immersed into the movie (As was I).
You can usually tell because no one talked during it but cheered/gasped etc at certain parts of the movie.
I just realized it’s a lot like Fernguly, except this time they’re bigger. And a different color.
Anyone else think Dances with Wolves? I really liked it. The only issue I had with it was that it was totally predictable, everything, EVERYTHING. Other than that, great movie. I’ll buy it when it comes out for home theatre.
Transformers sucks big metallic nuts, I don’t know how you can even compare the two.
Yes. The events were less than surprising, but the whole world, like the Na’vi and just the biology of the entire world, was pretty awesome. The effects were seizure-inducing. In a good way.
Man, I saw this movie today in 3D [first 3D movie I went to].
I melted in my chair and was totally into it. The 3D is a must with this movie, so many scenes just made me speechless. The most realistic CG I have ever seen. And I’m VERY OCD about that.
I’m seeing it tomorrow again in 3D and probably again Monday. A must see movie and worth the price. Even though I have seen people hate on the movie, I promise if you see it, the floor will be sticky before you leave.
I agree. In fact, the more I think about it, the more I like it. I hope to see it in 3d as the theater I was at didn’t have it. Either way, I’ll see it again.
Oh man, if you liked it without 3D, you’ll melt when you see it again in 3D format. And depending on the screen [we have 4k HD at our theater, dunno what it means but the projection is full digital and insane] you will be fully surrounded by it, don’t sit too far and don’t sit too far. I sat about 130 feet from the screen but of course depending on screen size that number will change. I’m going to try a different location tomorrow and see what happens.
+1
Seeing that sort of stuff in an Imax 3D theater is stunning, it is truly the way james cameron imagined it and the way the movie was meant to be seen.
WOW! I cant believe I didn’t even realize the huge similarities between the movies story, seriously that was a great movie and the story is pretty much the same.
Yeah, he waited 10 years to make this film. That guy should be declared smarter then Steven Hawking(SP?). But can you imagine, the tech we’ll have 10 let a lone 5 years from now for movies? And there is hype on imdb that the two lead characters signed on for a sequel should he choose to make one [AKA, they are]. This movie was James’ biggest dream and with the reaction I know it has/will get. I know a sequel is going to be in production within the next 6 months or so. Can’t wait.
EDIT: No intentions of derailing but… IRON MAN 2 comes out MAY 7th! Still wont compete with Avatar.
