Atomic PC - BM Preview

Oh no. I shouldn’t have said now… I don’t wanna wait until 011 for this mod to come out. That and I want to be able to run it…

While that’s great that they aren’t representative of the final build, the way he phrases it makes it seem to be representative of the “current, alpha build”! If so, I suppose we will be seeing Black Mesa coming out on the Portal 2 engine. My hope is that he is only talking about specific areas, “QE, the whiteboard etc.” and that it was also played on medium settings.

I would love them to be able to release it with the Portal 2 engine, but it seems a lot of the game would have to be retooled, to allow for proper use of the enhanced engine, it seems like even if every team member worked simultaneously to get it working on the new engine, it wouldn’t be a 1 month conversion. If they think they could include the engine in the mod and use it to it’s full potential without delaying it more than 6 months I’d prefer they just release it with the engine they have been building it for, for the last ~3 years.

Last time I checked, the general consensus was that DNF is* taking, well, forever:awesome: is because of the multiple engine changes, that required the devs to redesign the game so many times, that they got sick enough of the whole thing to let it slip into the legend of a failure it is today. I just don’t want them to be too concerned with keeping with the best engine if it means they have to redo significant portions of the game.

*I said “is” due to the rumors of revival from Gearbox.

I think the whole “port BMS to Portal 2 engine” is in nobody’s interest.

From what I noticed, some of the devs or at least one, just want to be done with this project and release it already.
I really do think some of the devs if not all are beginning to get sick of this project even if they don’t want to admit it.
I think they got tired of working at this for such a long time and when leaks like this happen it sickens them even more.
I am not sure if the portal 2 engine can help in any way. The portal 2 engine uses some updated features so that the portal 2 devs can make use of them.
Th engine itself isn’t all that matters, you have to know and want to implement some of the advanced effects of the engine too, in order to get more eye candy in the game.
I am not sure that there’s something that’s absolutely necessary for BMS that doesn’t already exist in the current source engine version but I might be wrong.
If they ever decide to further delay this in order to improve the graphics or something like that, I am willing to wait some more, it’s not a problem for me.

No release until there’s a simultaneous release on both Windows and OSX.

can I ask who else wasn’t very impressed with those screens?

The portal 2 engine isn’t even finished, by the time the SDK is released it’s just not worth porting over to it.

What the fuck are you talking about? They’ve take down all that shit already.

They’ve taken them down, but the content they put up has been widely spread now, I believe he was referring to that happening. Further, I believe he was stating that IF people come across the content (not on the Atomic) website and/or don’t hear about it on here (so as to have the back-story of its origin / and completion) people will make the presumption its complete material and effectively alter their perception of the game (for better or worse). Its actually quite possible, but whether the devs are concerned with this at all is another point entirely…

Stop being an idiot. It’s been explained why they weren’t of the quality we’ve come to expect based on the officially released media and trailers. So whether or not you were impressed is entirely irrelevant. As are, to be honest, most of your posts.

hahaha!!! ^

you’re not the first person to be getting this defensive whenever I mention this topic…

and where has it been explained? I missed it.

Your candor is appreciated, Ram.

It is unfortunate that the material was leaked without the team’s approval, but look at the majority of the responses you’re getting in this thread - people have a renewed excitement for the mod (myself included, even without looking at the screenshots). And for those who are saying they aren’t impressed - to hell with them, why bother posting in the first place? Folks that are here “for the mod” are anxiously awaiting the finished product you guys are developing, regardless of any leaked material. So try your cumulative bests to not let this get you down - you’re doing an amazing thing here and are (presumably) close to the finish line.

Thank you for the entertainment

Let me know if that doesn’t help

Welcome to the Internet. The moment something is posted on a single Web site, it can be linked, saved, mirrored, re-uploaded, archived, etc. Thus, that same single Web site removing THEIR copy of said material won’t affect the countless copies saved, mirrored, archived, etc elsewhere in the world. Look at all the posts above you that said something to the effect of, “Hey, I know Atomic PC took down the pictures BUT I saved them, PM me for a copy!!1!!1”

So 2017 then? I’m pretty sure OSX would be outdated by then
Oh, and NO! BAD BOLTEH. DOWN. NO MAC-LOVING ALLOWED.

FUCKING DIE FAGGOT THE PICS WERE FUCKING AMAZING! ARE YOUR FUCKING EYES BROKEN? WELL IF THEY ARE THEY NEED TO BE FUCKING FIXED OTHERWISE YOUR SHIT EYES DONT DESERVE TO LOOK AT THESE AMAZING SCREENSHOTS!

[COLOR=‘Black’]I still havent seen the screenshots. :retard:

I spent the time looking for points of why the screenshots are crappy and why folks may not like them…

Whilst many might agree with your sentiment that’s not really the best way to go about expressing it.

feel the anger… . .:retard:

I’ll now get people to shut up by apologising for expressing my views on the screens and if I’ve offended the devs in any way.

the latter part of that apology was meant more.

Edit: good

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
