If they were to give in to just words of hate, they would be weak and they would deserve no sympathy for taking such action.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Atomic didn’t have a PC that could run it all the way up. Judging by what I’ve seen officially, this game is gonna be the most demanding Source game so far.
Also, I bet someone at Atomic is kicking themselves (or they’re getting kicked by the Devs themselves) right about now for (unintentionally?) leaking those screens.
Also also, Don’t be a dick and post the images. Some people like suspense, and it’s far too tempting to click those links… :fffuuu:
“Leaks make me cry” – 404
Okay, I won’t spread the links, but that won’t change anything. It’s out, end of story. Nobody can stop the forces of Anonymous, for theyCOLOR=‘Black’[/SIZE]are everywhere.
Your statement is laughable.
Owned. :retard:
Well yeah, some pix were fugly, but they are still awesome (this will later become known as “the Black Mesa paradox”).
EDIT: HOLY SHIT!
I got all the media on my HDD, am I in trouble?
im boycotting black mesa
While I think Atomic meant well, and while we think their written article is fine, we’re not happy that they basically held down F5 for their entire play session, and with the giddiness and sloppiness of a 12 year old kid, dumped 100+ screenshots on the internet.
Heck, they even took a screenshot of the blank Xen map, as clear a signal we could possibly send that “HAY, WE DON’T WANT YOU KNOWING WHAT XEN LOOKS LIKE, SO WE MADE IT ALL BLACK SO YOU WOULDN’T TAKE SCREENSHOTS MMK?” I mean seriously! The rest of them, except for like 10, are just plain badly taken.
So this is a miscommunication by several parties, but it’s out there now. So why are we blocking it here? Cause you’ve seen the users in this thread that don’t WANT to be spoiled by having the first 20 minutes of the game stitched together with screenshots.
For everyone else, it doesn’t take too much searching to find them, so by all means feel free to look.
For what its worth, Nate, and the rest of the team, the mod looks amazing
Well we appreciate that, and the way most of these screenshots were taken is about as tough a beating as any game can take. Regardless of what you think of their overall quality, we hope the final game will be jaw-dropping to play B)
I love how you devs tolerate these guys <3 Nathan
im boycotting balck meas
I lurk here, but I wanted to post just to say thanks for the hard work and can’t wait to play it. Also, thanks for giving access to a preview. Exciting stuff!
Once again I am awed by your precious insight, I was worried about Xen for a second, now I’m guessing BM’s gonna come out more on the 3.8 month side than not.
Next up…
someone is gonna do the cman2k “formula of completion” estimation and will spit out a ridiculous hypothesis of when the mod will be released.
Okay. We understand that the pictures were badly taken. And oh boy, they were! It’s not fair to judge the quality of the mod just by those pictures, since the angles are bad and it doesn’t seem to be on max-settings. But…
…even in that case, what about that acid waterfall in the broken tank at the beginning? The still water looks just great, but the actual waterfall is… really, REALLY cheap, like HL1 cheap. Why don’t use the particles used in EP2 and even in your mod for water-falling…? I just don’t get it.
i had a nerdgazm looking at those screens - yeah it’s dated but it’s still awesome. i honestly don’t understand why the dev team decided to censor the article. with all the people bitching about the lack new content, and other people bitching about how providing new content is an unreasonable burden, here you have a ready-made solution that required nothing other than finally posting a new link on the twitter feed after months of silence. But instead of taking the most favorable route, they attempt (and fail) to censor the truth? Why??
Maybe they plan on choosing a few screens them selves to release?
Its goop, not water. It looks fine
Matt… take a look at the post directly above yours and you will have your reason. The last thing the dev team wants or needs right now are folks pouring over every pixel detail of all 200+ pics and then drilling them as to why this or why that or why x, y, or z changes.
When I started reading this thread I thought “whoa, I wouldn’t mind seeing that for myself!”… but now that I know that the general concensus is that the screenshots look amazing, I’m actually not that tempted anymore. I mean, it’ll be so much more amazing when seen the first time in-game, so the best thing for me to do is wait until the modification comes out and not spoil the surprise. Thanks to everyone who reported that the screenshots look amazing, this saves me from having to look for myself.
I think someone already tried that, actually.
I like your attitude. Judging from all the reactions here, I guess I can safely say all people working on the modification are doing a good job. You’ll all have my deepest appreciation and respect to look forward to when Black Mesa is released.
Easy. The mod’s not done yet. Our effects guru Mark spent like a month developing a super-awesome slime waterfall system for Blast Pit, and we haven’t put it into Inbound yet B)
I won’t guarantee that everything people think looks unfinished is actually unfinished. But most of it is.
Well we’re not snapping official screenshots and then downgrading the detail afterwards, if that’s what people think if it looks lower resolution, it could be the JPEG compression which is really bad, or it could be Medium settings. I haven’t looked that closely.
One more response from me and then I’m shutting up lol.
Catz - it’s game journalism, it’s not (only) a free advertisement for the game. The point of journalism is to provide the public with information, not to spin that info to make it look as good as possible. I’m sure it’s disturbing to you guys, being so secretive and having so much info appear out there suddenly, but I really think you’re being overly sensitive to something that should be nothing more than a PR boon.
