ASUS gaming laptop for £1000

Hey all,

I’m about to purchase a new gaming laptop from ASUS (brand loyalty ftw) and I have a MAX of one grand to spend.

What’s the best model I can get for this amount?

Cheers,

c4kes

ps. feel free to suggest any other good laptops that are just below the grand mark

Follow these steps,

  1. Take your money and go to vegas
  2. Gamble it away
    3.???
  3. Profit?

Don’t buy a G73.

  1. Take your £1000
  2. Buy a Tower from https://www.overclockers.co.uk
    3.???
  3. MASSIVE PROFFIT

Why exactly shouldn’t he buy a G73? I had the G72jh and it was amazing, and was planning on getting a G73 myself.

Good choice going with ASUS, they make the best gaming laptops hands-down. Wonderfully cooled, great build quality, customer support, price, etc. etc.

Don’t know much about Laptop, I like stationed PC more than Laptop.

If you know your brand, and you know your budget, why do you need us? GO out and buy the best gaming laptop they do for that price, as long as you know the tiniest bit about computers, you’ll do fine

If you can I would hold tight to wait for the Sandybridge based laptops to appear or even the AMD Bulldozer range. If you are desparate to buy right now you should be able to find a laptop with an i5/i7 with a decent GPU for that price. I think the G73 is out of your price range though I’m afraid.

I’ve got the G73 and if it seems the most powerfull laptop of Asus, it suffers many flaws (BIOS fucked up, ATI drivers problems, sound-crackling speakers, etc. just look at the asus forum) and the building is not great : only a few month and its feets unstick, fan making huge noise in low temperature environment or keys unclipping. And don’t ask me about their shitty customer support …

Strange. The G72jh I had, which is the G73’s predecessor, was extremely durable and had absolutely no issues.

But waiting for sandy bridge laptops might be a good idea, the G73 is starting to show its age and I’m sure ASUS have a newer model in the works. No idea when it will be out though.
