assigning bones to vertex groups in blender

I need help, I’m trying to rig a model, and I’ve already tried to search for every tutorial, but I can’t seem to figure it out. I’ve made the vertex groups and made the bones, but for some reason, the bones won’t get assigned to the vertex groups. Any Ideas on what I’m doing wrong?
(I’m using blender 3D).

you have to assign the vertex group to some vertice and then you have to parent(strg-p) the model with the armature(select the model an then the armature)
