They could easily make it so you spend most of the behind enemy lines, either with a disguise or just in constant stealth. Perhaps you can take airplanes or secret tunnels to cross no man’s land.
Or an Assassin on the other side of the frontline smuggling you through.
WHY NO FEUDAL JAPAN! ASSASSINS CREED GAMEPLAY WITH NINJAS!
don’t worry, at the rate they’re releasing these you’ll probably get one pretty soon.
So many more eras that could have created a fresh experience (Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, Roman Empire, Feudal Japan, both World Wars, …), but they went with a relocated AC3. Bah!
Hopefully they will release more exciting info regarding the gameplay soon, but as far as the setting goes, this is just disappointing.
Feudal Japan times a thousand.
Also am I the only one who read “Assassin’s Creed Unity Trailer” and shat brix because I thought it meant AC was running on Unity?
Anyway, as for the AC series, it’s a fun series, but holy shit cock bollocks is it stale. I haven’t played Black Flag and the Naval combat looked like it might have freshened things up a bit, but Ubisoft is beating it’s dead horse twice as hard as Activision AND Ubisoft’s horse is twice as dead. I’ve never understood why CoD gets soooooo much shit for failing to innovate when Assassin’s Creed is guiltier than practically the entire rest of the industry combined (once again, Black Flag Naval combat may be an exception, but Unity looks like a reversion in that respect). Assassin Creed’s combat has always been a boring steaming pile of shit from day one, and 5 or so iterations later they STILL haven’t fixed it. And Ubisoft appears to be using the CoD fanbase logic: " isn’t a stale rebrand, it takes place in !!1!1!!". Setting doesn’t mean innovation in and of itself, fundamental improvements and changes in mechanics whether or not tied to a setting change is innovation.
Changing a video game’s setting without changing its mechanics is hardly more than a reskin and Ubisoft has the chutzpah to call their reskins “sequels”.
Maybe this time they changed it’s mechanics as well…probably not.
CoD gets so much shit because people are pretty much forced to pay $60+ once a year to keep playing the game online (because nobody has ever bought CoD for the SP experience since MW1).
In AC you at least get like 60+ hours of “unique” single player content with every new game.
So, what do you guys reckon the chance to meet Napoleon Bonaparte in the new AC is?
I mean, it’ll probably be around the first French revolution - and Napoleon I. Bonaparte has proven himself as a capable general even before the revolution in clashes with Prussia (?) - also one of the reasons he even had a chance to rise to be an Emperor (Well, until the Battle of Austerlitz near Slavkov - hey, that place is close to Brno guys - also, why not name it Battle of Slavkov outright. Czech prevails with logic once again!), even if rather briefly.
They might even put the Battle of Waterloo in, 1815 or not.
All in all, I’m excited, but not stupid. This is a definite purchase… AFTER a somewhat significant price drop.
…They may actually manage to work the naval combat back in again, if that’s true. Interesting theory.
Hmm. Battle of Trafalgar, anyone?
And come to think of it, nobody’s quite sure why Napolean’s ship exploded, IIRC. That’s an obvious hook.
Napoleon is a Templar.
You heard it here first, folks.
Napoleon is a Templar who made deal with the other two emperors he fought at Austerlitz, the two being his fellow templars.
What? I’m sure that’s AC’s version of the World War Two plot, just change the names.
I don’t think Ubisoft is even bothering to optimize their games for consoles anymore. The odd thing is though that even games that run at lower than 1080p on the PS4 still output a 1080p image. As in, the console upscales it. This game will apparently output a 720p image and let the TV upscale it.
The PSN store page is not exactly the most reliable source for those kinds of things. Some PS3 games are advertised to output in 1080p and they don’t.
They might have outputed as 1080p but that doesn’t mean that was the rendering resoltuion. Saying 720p output means that the max resolution the game could be rendered at is 720p. I agree that it could be an error though.
Yeah, I meant that they only output at 720p.
I think MGS4 is advertised as outputting in 1080p but I checked my screen info thing and it said 720p, even after I told the PS3 to only output in 1080p in the settings.
edit: https://gamingbolt.com/assassins-creed-unity-is-targetting-1080p60fps-on-ps4-and-xbox-one They’re targeting 1080p 60fps for both. Realistically it’ll probably be 40ish fps on average.
well, that interview won me over. as great as AC3 and 4 were (nothing compared to 2, though), the fact that the combat was so easy took literally all of the challenge out of the game. stealth really was a secondary focus. this looks like they really did to AC3 and 4 what AC2 did to 1; IE, take something good and make it amazing.
