Ask an Atheist!!!

Guys, I think I struck Gold in the “Ask a Christian!” thread.

Granted, I did use MS paint to retouch the post for the benefit of the viewer to see both the comment and the name of the poster. You can see the original post here:

He didn’t say if he agreed with that.

It’s God. He’s a Christian. How is he NOT going to agree with that?

Doesn’t matter whether he agrees with it or not, God damned the victims of the holocaust, according to Dillxn.

Cue the “no, they damned themselves” crowd. Sorry. The religion that says “you brought this on yourself even if you’re otherwise a stand up guy that helps thousands” is a religion I refuse to join, no matter how many people come to the door with pamphlets.

He supposedly doesn’t agree with the laws of the Old Testament as well - at least with the passages that are contradicted in the New Testament. Seems to be quite a cherry-picking chap.

I like how he puts “evil” in quotation marks, as if implying that he thinks what he said wasn’t evil and sick.

So much for all that tolerance bullshit that they keep gabbing on about whenever I bash their beliefs.

Edit: Oh shit guys! I just realized something!

Also, did you guys see Assassin’s description of Christianity? He differentiated it from other religions by saying something along the lines of “Most religions judge you based on how you’ve acted in life, on whether you’re a good or bad person. Christianity immediately assumes you’re a bad person, and that you continually do bad things.”

This guy was trying to say why he was Christian, and this was his explanation.

“Sure, other car dealers sell you cheaper cars! But I sell them at much higher prices, and at much lower quality! Also, I’ll shoot you in the knees if you don’t buy one. It’s the obvious choice!”

Is this thread turning into a club where we snicker and make criticize people from the “Ask a christian” thread?

But yeah, if a religion said that there wasn’t a hell and that you would end up in a happier place depending on how good a person you are regardless of your religion then it probably wouldn’t spread so fast and root itself so deeply in people.

I want to get a few lol-worthy “Ask a Muslim!” posts in here to snicker and criticize, but I haven’t gotten the chance yet.

You give atheists a good name don’t you?

I know (most) religion isn’t in agreement with a lot of my opinions but that doesn’t give me reason to start making fun of it’s followers. Are we really that petty?

You just renewed my shaky faith in humanity. Thank you.

Yes.

Why should I withhold my right to criticize religion just because it’s a belief held near and dear into people’s heats?
If it’s okay to make fun of 9/11 Truthers, why not religion?

It’s unnecessary hate and it only makes us look like assholes.

Hahaha. I love how all you have to do to block anything said by a person criticizing religion (no matter how good of a point the person makes) is to call them “hateful.”
I’m not saying I made a good point. I’m just saying, I demand the right to criticize.

It’s not that I have a problem with you criticizing it, but this isn’t the thread for that, and also the way you’re doing it is petty and childish.

You have that right. You also have the right to not criticize, and do something productive with your time. People like you are the reason atheists are so hated by people who have religion.

What makes you think religious people hate atheists? I know tonnes of religious people who know full well I’m an atheist and we get on just fine. Johnkiller may act like a cock, but people are smart enough to know he’s not representative of all atheists.

You’re too kind.

Maybe I should just step back for a little bit and see how all of this goes without me.
(steps backwards. turns around. runs.)[/SIZE]

I’m talking about the vocal religious activists who in turn influence many of their congregations, most of whom are probably a lot older than your friends.

There’s only one problem. There really isn’t any “us”. There isn’t a group of people out there that don’t collect stamps. We only exist as a group BECAUSE we have been oppressed and ridiculed because we don’t collect stamps like the “moral” and “ethical” stamp collectors that rape boys do.

…wait, was that too harsh?

Well, it’s not as harsh as some Christians who say that we’re going to be tortured in agony until the end of time because we don’t ascribe precisely to their beliefs.
