The supposed hate that you believe atheists hold against religious people is naught compared to the hate religious people hold against each other.
I’ve only seen one or two people display dislike for the religious in this thread, and people have given examples wherein they were abused or otherwise discriminated against by religious people.

Might be due to the fact that we’ve been called things from immoral to liars and akin to Adolf Hitler and Stalin.

That was in response to my post regarding a deity that will punish you for breaking its laws. I was NOT talking about the structure of the universe at that point. See that you went on a totally different track?
I did bring up the structure of the universe at one point to illustrate the utter insignificance of the human species in a question as to why a deity would be so extraordinarily inefficient and petty.
Not once did I ever reference humanity’s understanding of the universe (or lack thereof).

Surely the whole of the USA? From what I’ve gathered when following Presidential campaigns and speeches, a hell of a lot of the rhetoric involves Christianity (which is odd, considering the founding blokes were meant to be quite secularist).
What’s the Atheist views on religions like Buddhism? You know, religions that follow the words of a certain “deity” so one can achieve inner balance. No actual worshipping our doing tasks in the name of a god, but doing things so you can come to peace with yourself.

I’m fine with religions like Buddhism as their not easily manipulated (although it’s obviously still possible). It appeals to me in an ethical sense as well, since it basically boils down to “be a nice chap and we’ll upgrade your motor”.
I don’t think that any religion has any influence on someone’s attitude towards other people (very little at most), it’s all a matter of breeding and behavioral patterns taught by parents and local society. Anyway, if someone feels better because of some teachings and it doesn’t affect me in any way, then I’m very happy for him/her.
