well, in my country, you HAVE TO go to the army otherwise you get arrested. However you can pay to reduce your time.

Of course were there a world without armed forces the Japanese or Germans wouldn’t have one with which to attack in the first place.

But yes the army is a necessity, yes soldiers risk their lives for the country.
But I can understand why people may lose respect in those who kill for illegitimate wars.

I dont see freeing a country of an evil wicked dictator (Though in fairness we should have put out of power ten years prior) and taking the terroist fight from our front doors to theirs, as “illegitimate wars”, yes the poltics were a load of sh*t, but what polticians do, you cant blame soilders for, they are just doing their jobs. And if you saw the fight on the front line, you’d know that the sickos we’re fighting will kill their own people, women and childern, they dont care, and our soilders step in to give these innocent people aide, even when it puts their lives at risk, where as the scum will not

The US has a Selective Service System, much like a draft, all American men ages 18-25 are required to register. I am registered, it was done automatically when I turned 18 and went to get my Drivers License updated. To evade registration is a felony (a serious crime).

Though, if I was called into service at any point within the next 4 years (as I am almost 21) I’m not sure I would make it very far via the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy which the US has. In case you don’t know the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy is put in place to stop openly Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual individuals from serving. I guess if being (semi)openly Bisexual prevents me from going to war, more power to me, right?

Ahh, America, where you have the freedom to do whatever you want. Unless you’re not a Straight White God-Fearing Male.

Even though I am gay/bi/fag/whatever the world wants to call me, I still support the fact the armed forces are there to protect a Country and said Countries interests (like OIL), even if the US Armed Forces think I am a risk to morality. People need to understand if America was to just up and vanish from the middle east occupation, it would be more devastating than if we stayed and slowly pulled out as per the current plan.

I do tend to see the “Non-American” views on what America is, just as ignorant as they think we are.

America is a great Country and place to live despite it’s shortcomings and general bigotry (but what country doesn’t have defects?). I would defend my home and family in a heart beat.
