Obviously my beliefs don’t represent those of all Americans, so I welcome other Americans to post their responses here too.

Here’s a quick summary of my beliefs;
First, I hate Bush. He’s an idiot. I have no idea how he got elected twice. Second, our government blows and is too corrupt to be reformed. Third, the average American is a dumbass. That’s not to say there aren’t smart people here, but we have a lot of dumbasses. Third, I think our government’s anti-communism crusade is retarded. It seems so hypocritical to me that we (meaning our government and the rednecks) try to tell other countries how to govern their country when our own has gone to shit. Fourth, in America, the rich control the country. Politicians are nothing but puppets. Recently the supreme court (I think it was them at least) voted to allow private corporations to donate limitless sums of money to presidential ad campaigns. This means that now not only can pharmaceutical companies buy senators and congressmen, they can also buy the president.

I think Obama means good, but he’s too pussy-whipped by big corporations to accomplish anything let alone achieve the “change” he promised. But McCain was far far worse, and Palin makes me want to puke.

Well not as a person, but as a collective. They’re unpopular for all sorts of reasons. (that was a reply to Deathmonkey)
Yes we tend to have a lot of uneducated and ignorant people over here that are racially prejudiced against anyone who is associated with Middle Eastern culture. You hear stories about Sikh people who wear turbans being bashed because they’re mistaken for Arabs, even though they’re totally different. Generally though we’re pretty tolerant. It’s only a small handful of them (Aussies and Arabs) that make a bad name for the rest.

Not really, I don’t see any specific generalized hate towards any kind of people around here. Except emo kids, of course. Oh, and americans. (sorry but it’s the truth haha).

hmm… I don’t think any more than anyone else. as far as I’ve seen Canadians don’t really hate anyone.

cept you guys I’m afraid, but that’s mostly because American tourists are rude and dump litter all over our highways.
oh, and give us Canadians a bad name when we travel over seas because most people over there just think Americans=North America.

Except for the specific US stuff (anti-communism, war, Bush and Obama), it almost looks like you are talking about Brazil :stuck_out_tongue: Except that I love my country (well, I love some of the people from here at least ^_^).

By the way, I would like to know: how is the view you Americans have of third world countries, specially Brazil? Did you see, for instance, the movie Turistas? Yeah, that is the name of the movie there, too. What is your opinion about it? Are you aware and what is your opinion about the violence in Rio de Janeiro caused by drug trafficking (and software / music piracy)? And there is also an episode of The Simpsons which makes Rio look ridiculous, what do you think about it?

Don’t worry to be rude about your answers, I’m not gonna get mad with them. Just talk to me like if I wasn’t Brazilian.

No. Unless for the 9/11 incident which made us afraid of what Arabs could actually do, and except for a few retards (whose opinion don’t count anyway), there is no hate against Arabs. There is certainly no generalized or popular hate against them, as much as there is against, say, homosexuals. And you don’t hear much about communism here (except, of course, for a few fans of communism, but those are rare).

EDIT: Also, he gave a pretty good explanation on how things are around here, but there really is no hate on Arabs at all. There was a little bit of a fuss after 9/11, but that’s gone for some time. We mostly make fun of everything around here; but there’s really no hate in it :slight_smile: .

No. We have a rather big Arab/Muslim community over here, and apart from the occasional extreme nationalists, we’re living happily together, multicultural shizzle ‘n’ stuff.

And communism… Meh? It’s a dead principle, apart from the small groups that still believe it would work. We do have a rather decent Social party, though (which favours my vote, personaly), but the country’s run predominantly by the Christian-Liberal parties.
