Go ahead and ask any questions about my being a spiritual agnostic.
does that mean like anything
I always thought Winged was a christian
I would take “spiritual agnostic” to mean that Winged believes in spirits and/or the spiritual realm but does not know if they and/or it really exists.
And one can be a Christian whilst being a spiritual agnostic if one believes in God and spirits and/or the spiritual realm but does not know they exist. Sorta like an agnostic theist.
I dunno if Winged One is an agnostic theist or not, though.
Alroght:
Why?
I use to be an atheist. However, I realized one day that one can never know one way or the other if there is a god or souls or anything.
I am a spiritual agnostic in that I believe in a force of Life (call it a soul or a spirit) which fuels all living things and give them the will to subsist. It may not be created nor destroyed, and is thus recycled endlessly. I also believe that this is a singular force which connects each living things as one. This force is necessary so that the universe may truly exist; without life, does the universe truly exist? Reality is created by us after all, and without life to take in the universe, it may as well not exist at all.
However, I must admit that nothing is certain, and proof is nowhere to be seen for or against the idea. Anyone can be right, and I’m just as likely to be wrong as Scientologists and Satanists.
Atheism isn’t about whether or not you know one way or another if there’s a god or souls or anything. It’s about not believing it. I’m an agnostic atheist. I don’t know and I don’t believe.
Just putting that out there.
So you believe in dharma what Hinduisms/Buddhists call the souls that goes from body to body trough rebirths?
Not quite. While I do believe that the “force” of life is continually recycled, I wouldn’t call it a rebirth or reincarnation. Simply energy flowing on and on, supplying power to life.
So… you believe in the conservation of energy and mass…
The particles that make up all living things (and everything else obviously) do get recycled, they have been ever since they were first created in the core of a large star 5 billion years ago. I like the idea of an infinite cycle where the universe expands (Big Bang etc.) and eventually collapses back in on itself (Big Crunch / Gnab Gib).
too bad the universe will expand forever and ever and ever then
Who knows right, the science behind dark energy and dark matter is still very young.
exactly
Apparently all available evidence points to an geometrically flat universe, which means it will expand forever, eventually resulting in absolute zero in regards to everything that entails.
Euclidean or non-Euclidean?
How could it be Euclidean when we’re talking about the entire universe, four-dimensionally?
So, what does “geometrically flat” mean in non-Euclidean geometry?
As far as I can tell, most “religions” have some sort of book, or other written belief system to base their belief on. A belief system that has (other than Scientology) been practiced for centuries and more. Even scientists have their facts and proven studies, so while I don’t think it is officially considered a “religion” it could at the very least be considered an highly respectable belief system.
But Islam, Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism and others that come to mind seem to have some sort of originating basis. Even my girlfriend’s belief system seems to be based in Christianity though I must admit she likes to leave out the parts she doesn’t like and add stuff she does like. (So I don’t know if you can really call that Christianity.)
Anyway, I suppose I am curious to know what your base is, or if it really isn’t based on anything but instead a mixture like my girlfriend?
Sounds like an intoxicating mixture. =P
