If the Church was made by man it would never have lasted a year let alone 20 centuries. You just need to look at history to see that it takes more than human effort to have the same teachings since the Apostles. That’s why many Jews and Protestants are coming to the Church. It’s impossible for it to be all human and have so many bad things happen and still be here since Jesus commissioning peter as the Bishop over the apostles.

What are you basing this on? It takes more than your word to make it true.

There have been numerous other religions that have lasted longer than the Christian church, and surely it wouldn’t be because of the influence of the Christian/Abrahamic god?

Take buddhism. It’s probably older than Christianity, and it hasn’t changed any more than Christianity has.

To bring it back on topic, sort of, Islam hasn’t really changed either, and it’s about 1500 years old.

I bet, I absolutely bet that the whole reason people don’t want to believe that is that they still are prone to the prejudice: “Apes are stupid and ugly.”

They don’t want to be distant relatives to something they find stupid and ugly. So they don’t accept that idea. It’s like neglecting to have any relationship with your mongoloid cousin or your mentally retarded aunt.

It’s just embarrassing, so people don’t wanna accept it. That’s the whole point. I think the whole " misinterpret" thing is bullshit. Powerful men exploited the faithful. Muslim empires may have been built around Islam, but they were still empires, they may have killed in the name of Allah, but they were still an empire.

the same way the pope tricked Christians into joining the crusades. Since when did catholics give a shit about the Byzantines? All Religions have been exploited by the evil of men. You can’t look at it black and white, that’s how people get killed.

It’s because (and i only speak for the three divine religions) God created man, and we are supposed to be superior to every other species. according to text, we have souls, animals do not. it’s more so an attachment with human superiority than anything else. Also it contradicts creation stories.

Recently was talking to an Islamic professor.
When asked about acts of blowing oneself up to kill others he agreed that it was totally wrong and disgusting. Like the airplane ‘underwear bomber’ he agreed was totally wrong. He said there is no justification to do such acts in the Quran, with one exception. Jews. This is no radical, this is a well respected professor.
It shocked me that such a distinguished individual would admit that such acts when done against Jews is permitted.
