Well, not really a true. For example, this is a clause from one of the Polish enactments, criminal law:
“Who publicly spread the fascist or some other totalitarian government form, or incite to hatred on national, ethnic, racial, denominational or lack of denomination bases, is a subject to a fine or imprisonment up to 2 years”.
Here’s another one:
"Who publicly insult a group of people or a particular person because of his/hers national, ethnic, racial, denominational adherence or lack of denomination, or because of these reasons violates the bodily integrity of an other person, is a subject to a fine or imprisonment up to 3 years.
Just one more:
"Who affronts other persons’ religious feelings by publicly desecrating an object of religious reverence or a place purposed for performing religious rites is a subject to a fine, restriction of liberty, or imprisonment up to 2 years.
I expect that some similar clauses to the first two are in other European countries as well. The third one may be a Polish exception, but I don’t feel that it somehow violates my freedom of speech.
