Not always. Some 22 year olds can look rather young, and some 15 year olds can look rather old. They’re close enough to each other to meet somewhere in between.
I think before you do the horizontal tango with anyone, you have to be sure who you’re doing it with. “[She/He] looked 18” ain’t gonna to cut it.
People are trusting though. If someone says they’re 21, well, they must be 21.

Are you seriously going to ask to look at someone’s ID every time you meet someone new? I think not. Although if it’s really serious you must have noticed something after a while, like the friends she hangs out with, school she goes to, or whatever.
Not every time you meet someone new, but if you’re going to do the nasty with someone, you might want to know a little bit more than their first name, yes?
Burb has already mentioned that she’d told his friend she was twenty two. That certainly implies that he knew more than her name.
