Ask A Computer Builder!

Ask me questions about computer building.

this isn’t the ask/tell subforum

Oh… :retard:

Can you move it?

i forgot how these threads were fun!

I WANT QUESTIONS DAMN IT, NOT STATEMENTS. :hmph:

I would be better off asking a guy at work on advice concerning Computer Repairs.
Asking OP for advice in such a topic would probably Brick my system.

^ +1

why make dumb thread

Do you live in China and do you work at Foxconn? Have you considered suicide?

What makes think you’re important enough for this kind of thread to be relevant?

I could. I actually work for a company that builds custom computers for people.

Ok, I’ll ask a serious question:

Is my old desktop worth spending a few bucks to upgrade?

The current board has a P4 3.0ghz processor and supports up to 4gbs of DDR-400 ram, supports SATA drives but only has an AGP slot instead of any of the newer types. Currently, it has an old & slow 80gb IDE HD, 1gb of mismatched ram (2x256 DDR-266 & 2x256 DDR-333 with compatibility speed being at the DDR-200 level, AFAIK). It has an old Nvidia 256mb video card. Currently, HL2 is playable as long as I have it on medium settings and the dynamic flashlight shadows off. “Playable” meaning lows in the 20-30fps range.

I’m not looking for 2,000,000 fps, just something a little better - I wanna be able to enjoy BM, at the very least. I would rather upgrade than replace due to ease and cost. I would settle for a consistent 40-60fps on moderate to high settings.

So, is it worth upgrading? Are decent and compatible components going to be cheaper than upgrading to a new system?

You should probably buy more usb-connectors. thats what helped my fps go up.

Get one of these

or stack a couple of them for even more bungholiomarks.

How does it feel to be just like everybody else?

Quiet Cockroach the adults are talking :retard:

Stupid thread is stupid.
