Ask A Bodybuilder

I weigh about 80/90 kg, last time I checked, I’m just looking to burn fat really. I’ll try the walking.

I (used to, haven’t for a few months due to lack of time :frowning: ) run 2-3 miles every 2 days (and an additional 2 miles by bike to get to the track), walk my dog for about 1 mile every day, and I haven’t changed my eating habits at all (but to be fair, I don’t eat that unhealthy, just not super healthy and fatfree).

2-3 months after I started doing this, I had already lost 10kg. So yea, basic movement will make you lose weight. It won’t give you the muscly hotshot macho body, though.

I should get back into it :<

How the hell does that work? You’re covering the same distance in less time, requires more energy, thus MORE CALORIES BUUUUUUURRRRRNNNEDDD.

please tell me you guys dont use steroids.

I am a serious HGH, my face is bloated and I have a huge gut…

Trust me. Walking two miles is LOADS better than running two miles.

First off, you can sustain it.

Second, when you run, your body burns mostly carbs and sugar. When you walk, you give your body time to switch to fat reserves.

Third, your legs remain uninjured, not to mention your knees or hips won’t give out as early as they might.

Isn’t riding a bike better than walking?

Not really. You can end up coasting long distances of road without thinking. Besides, like running, it burns more carbs and glucose than actual fat. Walking is good for weight loss. If you want to work on cardio, biking and running is definitely where it’s at. But weight loss and cardio are two different things.

Next time you ever see a treadmill with different settings, put it to fat burn. Notice the speed. Then put it to cardio. The speed of the belt will increase dramatically. This is because, as I said, walking gives your body time to switch to fat reserves instead of whatever’s in your belly (carbs, sugar).

Also, mentioning biking as better than walking is like saying my 360 is better than your computer. You simply can’t compare the two. I could jump on this random activity bandwagon and say that swimming is better than all three. But considering Spycrabz can’t even get to a gym, I doubt he has access to a proper pool. I’m not even sure if he owns a bike.

Well biking is definitely better for me then

Fuck yeah.
From 130lbs to 147lbs in one month. 17 lbs of lean muscle. Success.

  • my spine is in proper position, thanks to intense flexing of my back muscles during deadlifts and squats.
    Thank you Kaze.

So Kaze, after making some good progress with my core, I would like to ask you what would you yourself consider doing for the best symmetry.
Thing is, I wanna be strong (e.g. power clean at least 150 kg) and look like Frank Zane:

Are you, as bodybuilder, pay more attention to symmetry or to the mass?
Tips, if any?

That picture is disgusting.

If you are asking about yourself:

Mass first, don’t worry about symmetry. Your dominant side will always be larger than your non-dominant. All you want is to bulk up in general. At a certain point, it won’t matter that you have a half-pound more muscle on your right arm as your left. If you are really concerned, avoid machines and barbells like the plague. Rely instead on dumbbells, which allow you to work both sides of your body equally.

okay

I don’t think you really know what symmetry in bodybuilding means.

Any tips you can recommend for a 14 year-old interested in body building?

lol ok

Also, I can see the individual muscle fibers of the guy in the middle.:fffuuu:

:frowning:

Start core lifting casually (start low) : squats, deadlifts, bench / military presses, barbell rows are your friends.
Once you get your core strong, you’ll go on isolation and other shit. But first, you need to get strong enough. And be sure that you add some poundage to your lifts every week.

Hey Kaze, it’s been a month since I started lifting and I’ve hit a plateau alright. My bench stalled at 160 lbs. So I’m considering to take a deload week.
Any tips? Like what to increase, what to decrease (e.g. weight/sets/reps)?

You can’t necessarily win the battle for a symmetrical body all the time. The only thing you can really do is replace the more logical barbell exercises such as press exercises with DBs.

Eat a lot of food. Lift weights.

No, what you see are striations.

If you want a simple deload, just stop lifting for a week. It’ll do your body some good if you’ve been lifting heavy for a while and will allow your CNS to recover.

So lowering the intensity/volume of workout sessions for a week won’t do?
I don’t want a simple deload for several reasons.
Active deload is what I want.
