ARMA III

It’s coming out on the fifth of march! Yay!

Just Alpha though. But buying the Alpha access gives you the full game when it comes out! Double yay!

If anyone’s familiar with the series, you know what it is. A combat simulator, this one’s set in kinda far away future (2035), but unlike Call of Duty: Black Cops II, all the technologies that don’t actually exist in the manner they’ll be portrayed in the game, at AT LEAST prototypes.

Yeah! There’s a Commanche, the ultra-cool-modern-must-be-in-CoD guns are standart issue in the game, Multicam is the standart camo pattern for NATO/US forces, and many more. More yays!

And the cons? Well, it’s gonna be buggy as hell in the start, like any other ArmA up to this day. But totally awesome when they sort it out!

Ok, I’m sorry now. But this game deserves it’s own topic. I’m back to my little cave.

I was excited until you said Alpha…

Don’t get me wrong, I love the Arma series, but I don’t really feel like playing a bugged shit pile from the get-go.

In most indie games, I could do it, but with Arma… no… just no…

I’m a fan since Operation Flashpoint - THE Flashpoint, not the cheap ass, stolen-name wannabes by Consolemasters.

That is a no-thinking choice by me.

I originally wanted to get the Supporter edition, too (all the games in the series as an addition to the DigiDeluxe edition content, all future A3 DLCs, etc), but BIS simply does not allow THAT to sell on Steam, and they do NOT support PaySafe, which has become the only way to pay online. They may as well get 30 euro less on the total cost, and I’m not counting VALVe’s cut in.

Hmmm…yes I can hear the huge amount of basement dwellers role playing already.

Huh?

aka hardcore pc gamers.

wait, so you can’t buy supporter edition from steam?!

No. You insert an extremely rude word can’t. Only the regular and the Digital Deluxe.

Supporter only from BIstore. What a shame, I love this since OFP, I don’t have a way to pay on their store.

Well, if you dislike that decision, maybe support them less. Perhaps you should consider not buying the supporter edition.

who could resist free DLC (arma has REAL dlc, unlike every other game), free copies of every past arma game (including DLC), and their fuckin name in the credits

and lets not forget the digital deluxe edition (right now) is still cheaper than mainstream AAA titles at base price (50 US dollars for DDE as opposed to 60 US dollars for just CoD etc.)

regardless of how questionable the distribution the supporter’s edition is, arma 3 will still be a great game

imagine this or this on the new engine and underwater

Pyro, I’m only pissed because they don’t have a way compatible with my possibilities on the shop. But being a fan for this long, I can’t let the chance go, and not for the ultra mega extreme cool stuff, but because this a thing of heart.

I’m working that one out as we speak.

Let’s all be realist here. Nobody will buy it other than the 6 guys that love life-like milsims, until DayZ 2.0 comes out as an alpha mod.

Bolteh, the fanbase for the actual base game is much bigger than you think. Even before DayZ was ever an idea in Rocket’s mind, it had a very respectable following.

Also, DayZ itself sparked the interest of more people who wanted to try the base game and liked it, so even more people will buy Arma III for itself.

Besides, DayZ will continue as a standalone game.

ShackTac. UnitedOperations. 15th MEU. Havoc Coy.

Only the first two had over 300 members last time I checked, and I don’t know the counts for the Marines and Havoc Coy.

And now, behold. a hundred members in the ENTIRE community of coop players in Czech/Slovak republic.
102nd Recce (assholes)
BTK (dumbarses)
IM (the good guys)
MOR (more good guys)
BoSA gaming community (HELL YEAH. That’s us.)
For a HUNDRED people estimated… No wonder I’m playing on UO from time to time, and want to join ST, eh.

Back to what you said, yeah, sounds like six guys to me. In CZ/SK community… Other than that, BoSA gaming has plans to revive this shithole of a community. Yay.

Minimum Specs and some awesome screens.

I think that’s quite reasonable.

A Pre-Alpha tester (those guys invited to participate directly in the place of making a few months back) ensured me that if A2 runs, A3 will run the same OR better.

I’m really hoping that we’re starting to get to the point where games will no longer require progressively better and better computers.

I reinstalled Arma 2 just yesterday and tried running it. Got about 60 fps at 1.5x supersampled with smaa and maxed on editing mode. As soon as I started the single player though the framerate dropped to 20-30. It’s the AI (and maybe the character models but that makes less sense) that sucks so much performance.

Being a huge ARMA fan myself, I will be preordering and I’m gonna hand out some of the alpha keys to some buds.

Hate to break it to ya, but ARMA actually had a community before Dayz. Actually, a very strong community. TBH, even in its smaller state, it’s 10x better than the dayz community ran by console kiddies.

yea i and gunsofglory must be 2 of those 6 players…
