This. Seriously, wtf is wrong with you people? MW2’s campaign, though short, rivals HL’s and HL2’s gameplay and is far far more “epic” and “intense”. And BC2’s SP is utter shit, it screams generic far far more than MW2’s. I haven’t played the mp so I can’t say anything about it. I can see how you could get bored of the mp, but until you do (which should at the very least take a few days) it is extremely addicting and I hardly even see people use akimbo shotguns, let alone get killed by them.
And also, I LIKE the lobby system and no dedicated servers, sure the whole host thing is annoying, but modded servers and custom maps have ruined HLDM and HL2DM. I’m so sick of playing shitty maps with shitty customizations and having to dl half a gig of shitty mp3 files. Also, with he lobby system you never have to dig through tons of servers with 0-2 people on them.
People don’t hate MW2 because of herd mentality, it’s the exact opposite, it has so many obsessed fanboys it makes people hate it regardless of whether or not it’s actually fun.
Haha oh wow, you need a haircut. Also, you haven’t played BC2’s multiplayer, which is the main selling point of the game ,so your point is pretty invalid. See, there’s this thing in BC2 called teamwork, you have to use it. Some of the 32 player games can get abit crowded and become a fragfest like CoD6, but when you jump in to a smaller game, maybe with 11 players, then it becomes fun and tactical. I haven’t played MW2 and don’t plan to, especially with all the bad things I’ve been hearing about it. Maybe I’ll pick it up next year when CoD7(cash cow lol) is released and everyone rushes out to play that and the price of CoD6 drops.
O_o I’m… I’m not sure if you’re actually being serious or not.
Although I did finish the BFBC2 SP, I didn’t really like it that much. It’s as forgetful as the MW2 SP. But let’s be realistic here guys, BFBC2 was just a vessel for the MP. The SP matters not.
Umm, how about you look at other games that use dedi servers like… every other MP FPS in existence. TF2, CSS, BF2 and others would’ve been absolutely terrible had they had no dedi servers. And any game that has dedi servers has filters, like no empty and no full. I use them every day in BFBC2, to great effect. They also have favourite servers and a history log of all the servers you’ve played on, so it’s incredibly easy to get in to a server.
Also, BFBC2 doesn’t have much modding or customisation, and again you can filter out anything different and just have pure HC servers, or whatever you want really.
Dedi servers are needed for flowing play with large numbers of people with next to no lag. You just can’t get that using p2p.
Again, I don’t hate the game because of whatever reason someone on a forum comes up with. I have fun when I play BFBC2 so I play it. I have fun when I play Just Cause 2 so I play it. I don’t have fun with MW2 when I play it, so I uninstall it.
Meh… BC2 is MUCH better. I played free weekend and then got bored. Although I must admit splitscreen is great for my once a week gaming thing at my friend’s house. He has a PS3 and MW2 and we play it. For 4 hours each week. And that’s enough for me.
Okay MW2 Single Player was fun and all the first time around, but in NO way does it compare anywhere close to the HL series. Even if an army game and HL could be compared… well, they can’t. Apples and oranges. Don’t even bother trying.
And I’ve been playing MW2 online several weeks now. I’ve unlocked some things, but I’ve gotten incredibly bored of the same small cycle of maps.
Despite jambo’s best efforts, I did play some MW2 free weekend in the end with some friends. One of whom was teh guy who made me D/L it in the first place.
It’s just too busy. The amount of stuff going on onscreen, the perks, levels, upgrades…this is why I like TF2. It’s just straightforwards. FEAR multiplayer was good too, because despite the aesthetic, it was a very simple online experience.
maybe a reason why i enjoyed it is that it tells you the story in first person, like hl did. there are no cutscenes and such. espacially the start of the 2. map where you climb up that icecliff somehow made me feel like i was in the middle of it.
I really can’t see how they are unnecessary. With a game like BFBC2 that doesn’t have too many variables, and doesn’t have modding yet, the only real variables are Hardcore, Gametype and minimap =\
Having dedicated boxes whose sole purpose is to host servers is a great way of managing MP games. It’s worked just fine for the last 10+ year, no need to fuck with it. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
Did you even read what I said. THERE ARE FILTERS. You can use them to only show servers that are populated, then you can sort by the player column and you’ll see hundreds of games coming up, I always do.
I had way more lag issues with MW2, things like warping and DCs, and the stupid times when the game has to find a new host and send all the appropriate data. I’ve had 1 laggy game in all the time I’ve been playing BFBC2, and everyone just moved to another server and it was fine.
Before I was like, meh Mw2 is not that gr8 of a game so I wont buy the next cod game. But now I’m so enraged by the ass fucking the pc community received, which is solely responsible for the fame and fortune of the franchise that I want infinity ward to know. I will steal your next game and feel good about it to regain the 60$ you stole from me and will recommend other gamers to do so. My point, never make another game for the pc, ever!
I’d like to note I’ve never condoned game piracy, but this is an exception.
You rebel, you. Just so you know, stealing one game isn’t gonna do shit to Activision, but you can go to jail for shoplifting.
Anyways, I personally enjoy MW2’s multiplayer (but then I haven’t played BC2 yet ) but the ridiculously tiny size of each map and the same cycle of maps over and over again is beginning to enrage me because everyone knows every spot and is so goddamn good. If the maps were a bit larger and there was a decently sized amount of them (say, 20 or so as opposed to 9-10), then it’d be different. The maps aren’t even very big, it can’t be hard to make them.
