Anime

Not as much as Japanimation :aah: .

I just noticed Garthbartin’s avatar is from Hellsing. That brings the list of things I like about him up to 1
.

it doesn’t bother me. most of it has to do with the fact that a lot of people who like anime do so because of their dislike of american cartoons, so the term cartoon has negative connotations for them.

Just sayin’

I like the subtitles over the dub. The voices are poor when it comes to the english voice actors.

Of course, because you’ve seen every single US dub :hmph: . I hate it when people say that, that every single dub is poor. Maybe in the 80s but most of the dubs produced now (from reputable companies like Funi and Viz and the like) are excellent.

No, most dubs still suck. Not all, but most. I already mentioned one earlier that has great dubbing. But aside from Gunslinger Girl, I only like the dubbing in Berserk, and maybe Claymore. That’s pretty much it.

Have you seen Cowboy Bebop, FLCL, RuroKen, Yu Yu, One Piece, all Studo Ghibli movies, Akira, or Death Note? Not that those are the only ones though.

I’ve seen Death Note, it does have decent dubbing. Cowboy Bebop is… ok… One Piece is like every other bland piece of crap. I will agree with Studio Ghibli films.

I guess out standards for good dubbing are different, then.

Berserk intro song is terribad.
If you can’t pronounce English properly, then don’t try to sing it.

I think the Ghost in the Shell dubs are quite good. Both Stand Alone Complex (the series) and the movies had good dubbing.

I can’t watch Death Note in English. The version they had on ABC2 a while ago just sounded dreadful.

On the other hand, I can’t watch Neon Genesis: Evangelion in Japanese. The English dubbing is of a really high quality in that series.

Though I am sure that is nothing compared to the list of things I hate about him.

Not the first movie, god no. The Major’s mouth is never in sync when she speaks.

Agreed. It also showcases the dub’s greatest advantage, making action sequences and scenes with unseen characters fluid. I watched 1.0 with subs and found the SEELE meeting really hard to decipher because all the voices sounded the same and I couldn’t tell who was talking.
