I don’t expect a response from the devs, although that would be nice. I was just stating the lack of sensible constructive arguments in this thread, or in any thread for that matter. Yes, everyone has their own ideas, but I think this thread is partially a poll to see what everyone’s opinion is on the dev’s handling of their PR, and so far the OP’s argument seems to represent the majority. But it’s when you manage to get a thread with sensible constructive arguments voicing sane reasoning instead of the inane babble we’re used to, that the developers take more notice.

The fact that the OP has received support speaks volumes in itself that people are speaking sense here.

I suppose I’m just fed up with the state of the forums than anything else, and official communication from the development team can calm everyone down. Most of the aggression in my experience has actually come from the older members, who have largely failed to reciprocate in discussing sensibly.

As no one is near perfection I tend to slip when frustrated but just looking at the posts that occurred just as people were beginning to understand one another a plethora of childish antics comes flooding in. That is offensive. Nothing I can do about it, but offensive none the less. So you can take that anyway you choose. There seems to be some legitimately intelligent people here, on both sides of the spectrum, so any further attempts to razz me will be met with deaf ears. I am surprised that people still to this day haven’t learned that by insulting others gets you no closer to your goal. I gave up trying to make any sort of point on this forum, since there is obviously more flamers and trolls than legitimately concerned folks who want to “discuss” things. Like I said, forums have become a breeding ground for cowardly weaklings to flex their face muscles and degrade others that they could never do in real life. So more power to them, like virtual sex compared to the real thing, it never quite compares. Now, I’m just having fun. :slight_smile:

It depends. I’m used to all the shit that goes on in the Lady Club forums and the General forums, that’s what they’re there for, that’s fine. I wouldn’t mind the Suggestion and Question forums being laidback and awesome like they used to be, in fact I’d prefer that, but it seems that in the last 6 months or so there hasn’t been anything to be laidback about.

It’s the influx of new, inexperienced members asking the same question over and over and the old and weary members who are getting fed up and raging that have turned it around. It seems more and more that the aggression being shown is everyone taking everything too seriously. If you’re going to get riled up that easily, take a fucking holiday. (Speaking to everyone I mean, old and new alike). The lack of news and media to whet people’s appetite and to get them excited certainly hasn’t helped anything, which serves my original point.

Jesus, just comparing the difference between most threads in the Off-Topic forum and those in the Question thread. I thought the OT was meant to be for flaming and arguing, not here.

And I’ve noticed a distinct lack of dialogue on the part of Vormaen (as far as I’ve read). He seems to just post ramblings about the bad words people use instead of actually replying to anyone.

All it is now is a waiting game. People who aren’t serious pass the time by firing up overserious people, and the over serious people pass the time by trying to convert everyone to their stone cold, ice-hearted, politicly correct ways.

In the end, some people are happy because they got amusement out of someone else, and others are happy because they feel like a martyr.

I keep rambling because you, playing the role of captain OBVIOUS keeps repeating yourself over and over, how you don’t understand. So if you’re done, we can move on, thank you. As for a lack of dialogue, maybe I should point out I started this thread and there was a point before it had gone of kilter with a bunch of flamers. So if you’re done with your own form of trolling (the pointer outer of personal flaws troll)…

I think this thread is moot now, everyone has said what they wanted to say. I’m just sticking around because I am trying to pick the straw splinter that seems to be lodged in above poster’s rectum out, he really seems to not like me, or so I gather. Besides, I really haven’t had a virtual brawl in ages.

I honestly don’t mind the newbs asking questions. They are just foolish/lazy for not looking it up themselves. It’s these threads where everything is already clear, even to the thread starter, but the content is basically ‘I don’t like x, it should have been/ should be y’

There is no point to that. It’s not changing what has already happened, and it’s not going to change the current state of things. If people want to do this, why not have a ‘complaints that no longer matter’ thread? You know why? Because it’s pointless.

I’d disagree with you on that point. How can we have any idea whether or not it’s going to change anything? The point I’m making is that it’s far more likely to change something if it’s well-constructed and doesn’t descend into flaming after a page.

But if you’re criticising the discussion of the mod, whether that involves complaining or not, you might as well close down the whole forum. Either that or you accept totalitarianism.

@MAX I think that no matter how much bitching occurs on the forums in the end people still miss the point, it’s what the forums are here for. To share your concerns, your ideas, and to make a statement or complaint. Rarely do I ever see forums last so long without conflict or complaint.

@ROT I very much have no idea why you want to defend Mr. sticks up his nose, but if you think he cannot defend himself, by all means, though I don’t think anyone, including the mods would appreciate us going at it for the sake of going at it. Perhaps a general post somewhere else just for forum bashing would suit you better? Cause I can always go several rounds if needs be. Your call.

This isn’t discussion of the mod, but rather the PR and past maneuvers of the dev team. COMPLAINING. This is about discussion about the development of mod and it’s content, along with enquiries relating to the content and development of the mod.

If there is suggestions ( which there weren’t in the OP ) then maybe a quick suggestion in the suggestion box would be more appropriate? I mean making ongoing threads dedicated to just complaining is pointless.

Can’t argue with you there dude, but I’d say there is space for this sort of discussion. And since useful threads have long since dried up in the Suggestion Box and Cafe forums with the exception of the Question thread, it would be nice to see this. You could argue that it’s more closely related to Web and Support I guess, but no one’s ever been that fussed about the relevance of threads, and it is after all directed at the devs.

But perhaps I’m the only one who sees a direct link between the lack of communication between the devs and their community, and the amount of shit that we are now seeing in the Cafe.

@Vormaen - Burb has a point. If you’re going to preach inteligent discussion and pacifism, at least stick to your guns and practise it instead of fighting for a brawl.
