An outsider's point of view on Black Mesa Release

LOL, no no Devs to my knowledge. I like this place now, it’s fun to see the diversity of personalities come out. Quite interesting. And, um, who said anything about pacifism? Did I? No. In a perfect world I would love that someone could disagree with you without calling you a fag or turning that person into a trolling noob just because you don’t like what they had to be concerned about. But we all know how self centered some of us meatbags can be, so there’s always when I dream…

@Bobbo You know, intelligence can be overrated. What you do with it is more important. If you’re book smart but have no common sense or sense or humor it’s pointless what you say. Balance is the key.

As for the Devs, I fully understand their plight, I really do. It’s not easy taking on such a massive project and also stay in contact with the community. HOWEVER, people like handouts and the more you work with your fans the better the end result will be.

ITT: newfags fawning over each other.

You just love the fact you can build up your status quot without saying too much aren’t ya?

Oh you really think so? I bet that even if the devs didn’t say another damned thing from now until release the whole site is going to turn into a shit storm of traffic. Hell, I imagine even if each individual dev took the time to personally insult every single registered user the forum has the same shit storm would still happen upon release.

No one is going to care once it’s released. You’ll only get a few posturing whiners who will claim not to play because of principal then go home and play in secret.

It’d be “neat” to see the devs/mods just shut the thread down now. All it has turned into is a pissing contest and I’m tired of seeing this at the top of the forums list on the main page.
Everyone speaks on behave of the devs but no one knows for sure what their thoughts are because the devs/mods seem to be avoiding this thread like the plague… And I don’t blame them if that is indeed the case.

Everyone compliments Vormaen because he words his posts nicely but he is no different than anyone else who thinks they are going to get an answer. There isn’t one person out there persuasive enough to have their concerns and legit questions addressed by a moderator or developer.

Here is my challenge to everyone… Wait patiently (Since you have no choice) for the mod to come out. There are plenty of great games out there to play to keep you occupied. I’m sure allot of you have hobbies, get out and go do something. Before you know the mod will be out and all these gripes will have been useless just like they are RIGHT NOW.

What a novel concept.

Well… Compared to almost everyone else here…

This one understands, and I like this one.

Also, I agree with guzzi, this thread is bad and you should all feel bad.

Oh, and I also agree with guzzi in that no matter what sort of beating around the bush you do, in the end the devs do what they want, and so they should.

Anyways, bbl, finding some other newfags to amuse myself with, not that you guys aren’t amusing, srs bsn is always amusing, but I’ll see you in another thread.

Unless this one comes back and I can’t help myself.

Threeplee: you have potential.

What? He gets compliments compared to everyone else here or he words his posts nicely compared with everyone else here?

With a little bit of thought and organization anyone can “sound” intelligent in a forum. You have all the time in the world to plan out what you want to say and how you want to say it. IMO no one has the excuse to not “sound” intelligent in forums. Yourself included bobbo…(As a matter of fact I think the FAQ touches on this very subject)

Moderators if you were to take any requests mine would be to please shut this thread down.

Edit** https://forums.blackmesasource.com/showthread.php?t=24 There is the link to the forum FAQ. Read the rules and be aware that a high percentage of the rules have been broken in this thread alone. Hence a very good reason to shut a thread down no?

oh, hey. how’s the weather up there?

it’s funny watching you preach meditation and inner peace on an internet forum, and then when people backtalk you you lash back exactly like the people you put down. and then you demand respect from anonymous people you don’t know and offer none back. keep it up!

vermin for president

heh, “pointing out character flaws”… I was just making an argument, in a distinctly non-offensive manner… oh well

BM release talks have become a joke.

Unfortunately, so has the mod because of the delays and ‘forum rules’ regarding how pissed off people are not allowed to discuss their disappointment on firm release dates.

Everyone follows like sheep simply saying “when it’s done” or “they’re working really hard” or some other nonsense. Only thing I know is if I tell a friend, relative or employer that I’m going to do something by 1/10 then not get it done even ONE YEAR later would result in lost friends and jobs.

  1. There has only been one delay
  2. People are allowed to discuss their disappointment (proof: this thread)
  3. They are working.
  4. The devs are not your friends or your employees

I know man. Coming into the forums to complain is the totally original thing to do!

Wow, now I’m a Buddhist monk. Man, I learn new shit about myself everyday. Meditation and inner peace? Naw, I’ll leave that to my fiancee. I’m a Jew who believes in bagels and debate. And seriously, if any of you folks had bothered to read from the beginning the post was neither for nor against the Devs. Suggestions, that’s all. But the funniest thing always happens, these, how would you guys word it, oldfags? Well if that weren’t homophobic I don’t know what is. Back to the point: You "old timers hold your perceived elitism as if it were a badge that makes you somehow better than anyone else. I simply join this community to share my thoughts. I can only imagine how droll your lives must be outside in the real world.

I’m stoked from what I’ve seen the Devs release so far. Can’t wait for them to drop this bomb on all the gaming world. As I have said before, released or not it’s not gonna kill me. Was originally posting as a polite suggestion on how things could become calm here. That was before I was again faced with the absolute truth. That given a venue where one does not have to meet face to face with anyone else, you will say or do anything to make yourselves feel bigger and better than anyone else, and in a rather crude fashion. Should have seen it coming. Unfortunately the people willing to listen and debate calmly are outnumbered by the many loud and obnoxious introverts with chips on their shoulders.

I am not perfect. But I love having a duality, or balance, to my madness. So yes, again, since reading for some of you is as bad as listening, if you come at me with a retort and you do it in a calm fashion, as some folks have done, I will treat you with respect. But think for one moment that coming at me like a dictator is gonna get you anything but friction. So far I haven’t disrespected the Devs or the most of the people that posted here. Only the jerks or bullys, whichever you choose, of the forums. So bring it on, man-who-thinks-he-looks-bad-in-a-fisherman-hat-and loves -man -with-sticks-in-nose-way-too-much. You think I’m serious? I am just having fun.

Bazingo!

ps @Ibanez I…sorry, I have nothing for ya. I don’t demand respect. Did I come in here saying “THOU SHALT GIVE RESPECT?” No. I said if you come at me with respect, which means you at least understand where I may be coming from, I will treat you in kind. If you wanna smacktalk, hey, I’m game. It’s called a simple act of taking things in context. CONTEXT SENSITIVE. Look it up squirrel.

Fix’d

Moderators, if you’re reading any of this, could you move this to non-BM chatter? It’s worthless to BM related topics, but oh so fun to read!!

@ROT Why thank you, man-who-wears-cup-for-hat, I didn’t have time to catch that.

You’re welcome, but it’s not a cup, it is a bell.

Thanks for your understanding.

When you shake your head, does it go “DING” ?
