Was enjoying this. Then got to the water bit and nearly shat myself. Stopped playing there but will get this and play it through at some point when I’ve worked myself up a bit.
I LOL’d, I really did.
im in the prison and i have no lamp oil left waycool
im going to continue when its dark outside irl
Is there an actual story to this game, like a point, or is it just walk around and explore?
yeah theres a bunch of story told in flashbacks and in letters u finde. and the voice acting doesnt suck either
I played the Demo and yeah, when my boss gets his ass up and sends me the payment to my bank account I will definatly buy that game. Really nice horror ambience and all those cool weird distortions and stuff, really like it
I love a good scare and god damn, better than Penumbras, absolutely horrified at moments. I don’t remember being this scared in Penumbras (which by no means were bad either, except the third one).
The whole game is about it’s own story, just like Penumbra
These games are a great experience, I’ve been playing this one, but I only play them during the night and with headphones, just to help the atmosphere of the game
I’m enjoying the game so far, but have 2 major complaints:
-
Combination of sanity meter and bad-guys. I’m having trouble moving around, specifically in the prison, when I have to worry about both of these at the same time. I can’t stay out the dark because the enemies will spot me, but I can’t stay out of the light because then I’ll go insane.
-
Weaker characterization than Penumbra. I don’t know, but I felt like Phillip was a much more characterized person. The beginning backstory and then some monolouges during the loading screen helped me picture Phillip as a person. David, on the other hand, just has his journals. This more makes me feel like David is no longer here, and I’m the one going through the castle… which is of course not true.
In summary: I like the atmosphere, environment, and overall design of Amnesia better, but David’s a total pussy who’s afraid of the dark and can’t compare to Phillip who just didn’t know when to quit and was overall a more well-rounded character.
What happens if you go insane?
I’m not sure, I’ve been avoiding it since the game seems to imply that it’s a bad thing.
I’ve gotten to the point where the screen went fuzzy and red and you fall to the floor but i pulled out my lamp and he got back up.
seriously who would go insane by hiding in the dark while a monster walks past?
awesome game though.
i finished thiss. it wass cool game and i recommend it.endings ok and you totes see alexanders weiner before u banish him into whatever. {spoiler alret} probably the best spookygame since like silent hill 2 or soemthing. or that game where you have to put the mouse thru a maze and then it suddenly screams at you that was pretty scary. peace out
Demo scared the shit out of me, got the game yesterday, yet to try it though. I hope it’s as scary as the demo and the story is good. Haven’t played a game that’s actually scared me like the demo probably, ever. Scary FPS games + guns aren’t scary at all.
I could be wrong, but I think the monster/light dillema is solved by hiding in environmental lights. The lantern makes the monsters notice you, but torches on the wall don’t quite as much. I could be wrong. The game is also trying to convince you to hide in a place that is completely outside line-of-sight from a monster
Also: My character went insane for a short while. Some weird things can happen, like insects crawling across your screen. Also, didn’t get chased, but I think if a monster chases you while you’re insane, you’re likely to trip, the monster will move faster, and you will make a lot of noise that makes you easy to follow.
Hmmm, i’m in the refinery(hehe, not that far…), but what’s up with the water?
Want to know what creeps under there, makes those ghastly noises, and will chase you to the end no matter what?
So do we.
(fear of the unknown)
I don’t give them any points for this, since hiding in environmental light as opposed to lantern light isn’t a logical conclusion anyone playing should come to.
I’ll pass the prison eventually, I just don’t feel like sneaking around. I don’t find the stealth aspect of Amnesia or the Penumbra games to be nearly as exciting as the more clever enemy encounters or puzzle exploration.
Jeez, those monsters ARE irritating, you always need to turn of light and hide in a corner.
I’m such a following guy, i didnt even se a monsters face with light yet
