AMD Bulldozer processors

Some new info about AMD’s upcoming processors. Link

8 cores for real??? :rabies:

I’m curious what “system price” means.

$700+ seems a little steep for AMD, but I guess you can’t pick up 8 cores off of the shelves anywhere yet.

Give me an intel processor that runs using light and goes 4Thz and I’ll buy it. -

Competitions good. If AMD actually delivers then that Intel you want will come down in price…

It would be good to see AMD with something to rival intels range at last. Yes bang for buck AMD are good but they just can’t provide the performance the Sandybridge range has.

By system price I think they mean a whole computer or at least motherboard, CPU and RAM.

You should call it 4 Modules. One module has 80% of the performance of a real dual core.

Apparently, Intel are going to also have an 8 core version in their i7 Extreme.

I can’t imagine how this is going to work for gaming laptops.

Onboard water cooling tank?

Liquid nitrogen cools 4 of the cores, the remaining cores are cooled by your soul

I doubt there will need to be any extra if it’s on 32nm, 28nm or even 22nm as the voltage required is less and less per core. The Sandybridge range need very low voltages when you compare them to the 40nm and bigger processors, hence a lot less heat.

In a laptop though the power consumption is probably still too much to have any decent batter life, but then the bulldozer range isn’t intended for that anyway.

Llano(mobile bulldozer) will have 2 modules only.

hmm, maybe I will buy

Bump. Bulldozers came out today.

Wasn’t a sweeping revelation, but its holding its ground. Nevertheless, I’m still disappointed in AMD. I waited forever for this CPU and intended on installing it in my new gaming rig. But instead I’m gonna go with an i7 Sandy Bridge quad.

LIES

Ivybridge incoming.

SO saw it coming. AMD were all cocky for years, they were going to release bulldozer which would beat the shit out of anything intel threw in its way.
Now they get gangraped by year-old processors. Derp.

Too bad :frowning: .

Here it is.
It sucks.

a huge dissapointment… well, you can’t expect much more with the money they can spend on research.

At least you can overclock them to 8ghz with all modules enabled WROOMWROOOM
