Always run, what do you prefer?

At this point (and a few fail jumps) I switched to always run, it is more like HL. It makes the crouch jumps a lot easier and I don’t like this HL2 sprint gameplay as much.

How about you? Always run or HL2 sprinting? And at which point in BM are you switched it?

PS: sry for the bad grammar and I hope this thread doesn’t exist already.[/SIZE]

always run

I have it off. I like moving at the ‘walk’ speed.

IIRC I managed to make it up to Surface Tension.

Ditto, especially at the beginning, before the accident. It makes me feel more proffesional, instead of a scientist running through a hallway full of co-workers for no reason, except for being late. The walking is more calming, and it gets quite annoying to hold shift in HL1 to walk, which is nearly useless unless you’re on tight endges, where I usually just use crouching instead.

I use both. I’m adaptable.

I did my first playthrough with it off. Then after I beat it, I at some point turned it on and never really bothered to switch it back. Yet.

Haven’t used it till now and I don’t plan on it…
… and I’ve played through BM two times now.

I prefer the slower HL2 style of movement really, the super fast walk speed in HL1 was a by product of other games at the time like Quake and Unreal.

I for one love the HL1 style. I can actually move around in combat without having to hold down an extra specific key.

I just wish you could walk (using the sprint key with it just isn’t slow enough) like the original.

HL2, always. For the brief period when I played the original HL, the “always run” just bugged me, especially during Blast Pit. Around the Tentacles, I always held down crouch and walk, which was agonizingly slow but very safe.
…Except for the damn ladders. But that’s neither here nor there.

I like to walk around, look at things, explore and study the environment. Running is useful when you actually have to run somewhere or from someone. Aside from those situations you walk. Seems logical

On my first playthrough I just walked everywhere. Now when I play I find my self mostly sprinting but I prefer being able to slow down and walk by letting go of a key when I want.

this^

Always run. I use walk when I need to be a little slower. Otherwise, I like zooming around. I’m just used to it. I fought a bit with the controls with slipping and jumping too far, but I’m used to that to. I’m not complaining about it. You get what you ask for.

I always run. Otherwise getting across big maps is tedious.

Always run is far better, one of the reasons i never liked to play HL2: DM is beacuse the walk/sprint movement, in the SP fits totally but not in DM.

I like to play with a ps3 controller so I can throttle my walking speed, and if I want to go on a full out sprint, then I just hold down a shoulder pad. So I prefer the HL2 method.

I have it off, HL2 style feels a bit better for me, constantly running at 50Km/H doesn’t fit well the way I like to explore levels and take my time.

Never turned it on. By the way at that part in the picture you can go to the back wall shown in the back left and stack a box to get up the hole and skip that jumping puzzle and it takes all of five seconds to do.

I tried it on for a few minutes earlier and I just can’t get used to it. I find myself trying to run faster and end up walking slower.
