Duke3d/Doom/Wolf3D gameplay is pretty crappy compared to today’s FPS standards and after playing something like Half Life 2, I would not play them for the first time ever. That does not mean those games are bad or overrated, because they DID live up to the hype. Wolf3D, Doom, Duke3D, and even Half Life all HAD their place in time. Im sorry, but even the original Half Life is just barely playable by today’s FPS standards (Black Mesa and this forum is a testament to that). According to your statements, HL would be overrated too.
I do agree, today there are better shooters to play than Duke or Doom, but for a time they were the most advanced games available. You not wanting to play a game != overrated. I think you need to grow up a little and realize there are a lot of people who play(ed) games that you do not like.
No I dont count the N64 version lol, that was trash in comparison to the PC. Im surprised because you had some pretty strong opinions about Duke3D’s gameplay in the other DNF thread, especially for someone who has NEVER even played the game. :what:
