All my files are GONE?!

So I guess I’ve been watching too much porn and all my files and programs seem to be missing.

There’s nothing under that start menu except “System Fix” and an empty “Administrative Tools.” I also managed to get iTunes there by fixing the program in “Add/Remove Programs.”

Got FireFox running the same way.

OH! Good news, iTunes found all my music.
Searching finishes instantly and yields no results.

What did Napoleon do with his armies?

Anyways I should probably just reinstall. Or maybe I’ll install Malwarebytes.

There was a fake antivirus that I ran into at work once, it didn’t actually delete anything, but it did hide all of the start menu shortcuts.

Make sure you can see hidden files, then browse to your start menu on your HDD (I don’t remember where it is and am tired, google it :stuck_out_tongue: ) and see if everything is still there but hidden. If this is the case, remove that shit that caused it. MalwareBytes or something similar should help a great deal with this.

Try a System Restore
If that does or doesn’t work, restart into safe mode and scan with malwarebytes

Had the same problem two years back. That was just the beginning, it suddenly started uninstalling network drivers and other important things. I was totally fucked in the end.

I assume you’ve rebooted? My laptop used to do this randomly once every few months, and rebooting always fixed it.
