Alien Isolation

Part two, and some spare change due to internet problems. I think I’m starting to get used to the oppressive atmosphere on the Sevastapol, but the scares will probably get ramped up soon, right?

That game relies a lot more on atmosphere and suspense rather than cheap scares. The Alien can get the jump on you if you’re not paying attention but that’s all due to the dynamic AI rather than scripted scenes.

The sound design is so good, I tended to rely more on the directional sound effects rather than using the motion tracker.

Yeah, there is one scripted moment though, it sounded like the alien went off one way and then I did a thing and then stuff happened and then…

Okay basically I nearly died IRL of a heart attack and kind of wish someone had recorded my terrified and totally real “I’m about to be murdered by the evilest thing in the world” scream, for use in other games and movies because it was the most authentic thing ever.

EDIT: LOL I’m in the process of watching your livestream, and I’ve been just crawling out of my skin every time you’ve walked under a ceiling vent and now I’m just at the part where you noticed they were there. I lol’d

does anyone know if there’s a fix for the ingame viewcamera origin of rotation?

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, stand next to a railing or something and turn slowly left or right, if you pay attention to the background moving vis-a-vis the railing bars, you will notice that the camera is actually behind the player, as if your eyes were in the back of your head but looking forward. It’s all wrong and it makes me dizzy but I want to play this game.

Maybe you set your fov too high. Try lowering it until you see your legs when you look down.

nah I was already able to see my legs, and I left the FOV on default obviously, changing it doesn’t seem to fix the issue though

I’m not sure how to change it, though I found it invaluable when I couldn’t find a proper hiding place and needed to peek out between chairs and stuff.

I think I set the FOV to 65 for more situational awareness, which is why the camera has a much wider angle than most people’s experiences with the game.

Hey folks, this game is half off on steam right now. Is it worth it? Also are there any of the DLC’s that are good?

I’d say it’s quite worth it. Crew Expendable and Last Survivor are nice little bits of gameplay content based off the movie. Don’t buy the Season Pass.

It was a lot of fun, I really enjoyed it, definitely recommend.

Here’s a graphics settings mod that you may want to try out.
