Activision Reveals MW3 Subscription Plans

Cod series died after Cod 2 for me.
Oh well, Back to waiting for BM.

You guys are acting like you NEED to pay this or you won’t be able to play the game. At least it’s optional and you’ll still be able to play the game, not that I’m siding with Activision on this, no, I think this should be a free service, I’m not gonna pay for some shit CoD Facebook.

^This…

It’s a feature like he said… that “gets gamers more involved with one another”.

You don’t have to pay to play online.

Either way… The game’s gonna blow.

Basically what happened was this: people said CoD was getting stale and that they wanted something new out of the CoD series. Activision replied, “Sure we’ll give you something new, but it’ll cost you a hell of a lot more.” That’s pretty fucked up.

Damn. I was hoping they were going to release an updated MechWarrior 3…

Why is everyone complaining, a new COD game comes out every month anyways, that’s like $60 and a full redownload.

If they just patch the damn thing instead of make a new stand alone version, y’all will be paying less money.

Because now rather than just repaying 60 dollars once a year, they want us to pay 5 dollars once a month in addition to the current 60 dollar payment.

Humor abandoned you at a very early age, didn’t it? :mono:

I admire Activision’s sales representatives. They are geniuses :awesome:

Not really, they’re in the same position apple is in; they have made such a name for themselves that no matter how badly they rape their consumers people will still buy from them.

Oh quit crying guys, Activison is a business and this is what businesses do. If you don’t like it don’t buy it, this is how you communicate things to companies. Not by complaining on an internet forum.

Also garrth the thing you describe that both Apple and CoD have is called “demand”. Whether via a well made product (not cod in this case) or good marketing CoD has a fuck load of demand. Activison is doing what any logical person would do in their situation, they are reacting to demand. They are increasing price because demand increased. Video games are in a strange situation in terms of this as console manufactures limit prices on games (honestly I am surprised activison doesn’t charge more for the PC version due to lack of restrictions).

They cannot increase price via product so they create a subscription. Its logical and reasonable. It even provides a service, advanced stat tracking. Its even innovation, a system built in to match your game room with people with similar interests! Granted they are charging for innovation but that’s what businesses do.

TL;DR Activion is big business, it makes decisions on traditional business strategies and doesn’t care if informed consumers (you me and most real gamers) dislike it because they represent the minority of their target audience.

They bring the damn franchise into orbit and now plan new awesome ways to suck teenager’s money. Like Apple, success comes from marketing and not the products themselves which I must say is well played.

this is bad in the same way the lottery is: its immoral to put a tax on stupid. this kind of thing is why thomas jefferson died for our sins. dont tread on me

I think they’re experimenting with this series. They’re trying to see how much they can buttfuck their playerbase until they stop enjoying it.

Do you seriously think I give a fuck whether or not it’s a sound business strategy? In what world could that possibly matter to the consumer?

EDIT: and really, I don’t think it is that sound a business strategy. Cashcows dry up unless you turn them into something more. With Guitar Hero dead BF3 coming up and complaints rising (mostly among pc gamers), Activision should be more worried about keeping it’s customers around than charging them more.

amen bruva

Remember when Activision was good?

Yeah thing is, activision themselves usually didn’t really do shit. The only good thing to ever come out of their arse was Tony hawk

I guess parents are gonna be reasonable and will not fork 10 bucks a month out for their precious 12 year old children.

There is no sign of cods demand declining. It should be noted that most of the complaints come from people who aren’t CoDs target audience. Do you honestly think Activison cares what an actual gamer thinks of CoD? No, they aren’t targeting people who know things about games, they are getting people who just drawn in by ads. The new cod games aren’t meant for legitimate gamers, us complaining about them is like an adult complaining that children’s movies don’t entertain them. Why should Infinity Ward put effort into a game who’s players aren’t going to notice a difference?

hhhaahaha…oh wait you’re akshuly serious :expressionless:
