ActiveX screws up

What causes this? this problem is in internet Explorer AND in Mozilla Firefox.

In chrome it works perfectly but when I open any page in firefox or Ie nothing shows up eg: black mesa, steampowered… even gamespot doesn’t work right. Is there a way of fixing it?

Uninstall spyware.

I did a virus check with Avast AND a spyware check with spybot search and destroy already. I think the registry is damaged, it started acting up when I did a registry cleanup with some trial registry cleaner, I think it deleted important files.

Someone told me to use the program “sfc /scannow”
and this is what happened when I put in the original windows XP professional CD, I have service pack three on the computer but only service pack one on the CD.

ouch! does this problem only happen in IE?

I would assume not.

ok then, to re-install IE, go into add and remove programs (in control pannel) then on the icons on the left click on “add/remove windows components” it will come up with a setup dialouge. uncheck IE and press next, then press finish. restart your computer, then log back on. go again into add and remove programs then “add/remove windows components” but this time check the IE box and press next. restart this time if you wish.

I already uninstalled it twice, it has to do with the windows registry.
