About HL2 and more...

to Valve

Nobody understands what you are trying to do by deferring HL2-Eposide Tree. The COD series and your wrong attitude about timing, has long caused the game to be forgotten. You are destroying a legend by your own hands. If it was released as a series “HL2-3-4”, as it was done for COD, surely no other game would be played around the globe.

Thanks to you, that’s not happening.

Firstly, would this not be better off being sent to valve in the form of an email?

Secondly, inb4 “Cool story bro” and subsequent flaming for praising the Call of Duty series.

Cool Story Bro!

CoD sucks donkey ass!

Cod tastes pretty good. Ever tasted it?

yes I’ve tasted. but to praise or to compare not a matter of sri cod. Why blacksea HL series and are delayed. The world’s most good game so should not be forgotten

I just think you guys are taking the delay of HL2-EP3 too seriously. No, seriously, it is actually a good thing that they are taking so long.

One problem that I thought about the first 2 episodes is that they are too short. You can barely start the game, you already finished it… twice, and… :’( it is over.

Valve will only be to blame if the third episode turn out to be small and without nice new features. In other words, wait for HL2-EP3, and, if it is shit, then get angry. In the mean time, play other games, like crysis, CoD 6, or even another genre of game, whatever you didn’t play yet and you would like to. Just wait a few months and play Black Mesa  Or just get a life :stuck_out_tongue:

Speaking of Black Mesa, it is a nice example. They could have released shit at the end of 2009, but I’d rather see they releasing something worth its weight in gold :awesome: (at least I hope so  ), even if that takes one more year to get done.

It is not my intention to offend, but, if you think you can do better, drop a “curriculum vitae” at Valve’s address, maybe you can help them

And, no flame wars intended, but I love CoD. It has a very different game play compared to HL, and both games are nice. Feel free to be contrary to my opinion.

Fong, have you been giving English lessons again?

I have no idea what he’s talking about… So I’ll just go fish some cod for dinner.

Oh no, they have deprived the world of the lack of choice. What?

Cool story bro.

I don’t see how a longer release is killing the Half Life name. I believe it is making it stronger. I sounds like you are BAWWing over the longer relase, so I’ll make this quick. A longer development time = more awesome game. They are finishing the HL2 story arc, give them a break. Would you want EP3 now in the forum of a buggy mess or wait for it to be perfect, whenever that may be?

Well they could’ve released some screenshots at the least rather than just tell us that it wouldn’t be released until 2010

They did, in the wiki.

They did.

edit: :ninja:'d

Just making sure you know that Valve and the Black Mesa dev team are completely unrelated.

So it’s taking a little longer than we hoped.

I’d like to compare Valve’s situation to Blizzard’s. Blizz announced SC2 back in what, 2007? Still not even in beta. I’ll be damned if that game is “destroyed” in any way by it’s delay. Sure, CoD is fantastic. But in 10 years, are there still going to be tens of thousands people still going to be playing Modern Warfare 2 online? No. Are there still tens of thousands of people playing Diablo 2 online today? Yes.

There are good games and there are great games. Games like CoD are good, but they are spoon-fed with hype. And then something new comes out and everyone forgets about it.

Companies like Valve try to make innovative games that will be immortal in gaming history. They may release a fraction of the games that other companies do, but they are some of the best, almost always, and that’s what matters.

On a side note, there was a LAN at my school the other day. The only 3 games listed on the advertisements for it were Team Fortress 2, Left for Dead, and Counterstrike: Source. Kind of funny, eh?

Smoked cod is delicious

What are you on about, Call Of Duty titles are confusing as hell. I can’t usually differentiate between the sequels and the expansion packs.

Claps

didn’t see that

Most of that isn’t actually new media though, just new to this site. A lot of those screenshots have already been around on the developers’ personal sites.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
