A warning to UBIsoft users (Assassins Creed 1&2 and games related)

Hm… UBI and DRMs… they don’t mix. Discuss.

Honestly, these guys are idiots. Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to immediately disconnect you when your connection goes bubye on you?

They’ve prolly shot half of their fan base already. They all claim it to combat piracy, I call bullshit on my part.

Sounds like if the connection dies, you’ll just lose saving ability, but it will pause to try to reconnect, so you don’t miss any auto-saves.

Nevermind, I saw the question about “What if I didn’t know about the permanent internet requirement?”. That whole thing is weird. When it unlocks tomorrow, I’mma start it and unplug my ethernet cable, see what happens.

As a person whose parents refuse to get decent internet and thus must steal from the neighbors, this is annoying, although I wasn’t planning to purchase any Ubisoft game in the near future.

Sounds like a brilliant idea, but which is performed terribly. They should have added some kind of offline mode imo (save files get synced when you turn your internet back on), for people who can’t afford having their internet on all the time

Basically. It’s a good idea in theory, but it needs a lot of hammering to be put into practicality.

My problem is that you require an internet connection to stay in the game. Even if it’s single player. Which I honestly find moronic about the whole thing.

Their servers are already failing and can’t take the amount of info.

You’ll be booted out of the game without the ability to save.

Stupid system, I’m not paying $60 or whatever to be treated like this.
The whole DRM system is stupid, these guys aren’t preventing pirates, they are screwing over their customers. They have to accept their game WILL be pirated at some point, and DRM may slow them down, but only my a week for so at most. They should do stuff to cut down on casual pirating, like authorization and unique CD keys, but this is only encouraging people to find a way around their stupid system.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
