A Half-Life mod where the incident didn't happen?

IMO it sounds fun, but I see a couple of problems. First of all, how would you get through certain spots. As an example, the floor in Blast Pit. The hole wouldn’t be there if the RC hadn’t happened; the tentacles would never have spawned. Next, how would you handle Xen? Would the creatures attack you; and how would you get there? It’s not like the scientists are going to authorize some AM scientist to even enter that big teleport room, let alone fire it up and allow Gordon to use it. It sounded like a good idea though. Just my two cents.

EDIT: Never mind about not being allowed in the teleport room, I missed the part about being allowed access.

that’s the catch - in the mod they’re supposed to let you through and you would be in one of the explorer teams that were sent to Xen and collect samples and other random crap along with trapped animals … and as for blast pit - i reckon there could be engineered some sort of a workaround ?

Or… Half Life: Dr. Breen’s Administration. Play as Dr. Breen and explore Black Mesa, fire people and just have power over Black Mesa. :expressionless:

reminds me of this

This idea has been tried before, however the mod team appears to have lost interest.

I remember the game Titanic: Adventure Out of Time and quite frankly my favourite feature was the ability to take a “tour” of the ship before the accident. I would certainly be interested in a Mod that had a similar design taking place in the BMRF.

I think this is the best suggestion in the thread. I love survival horror and what better location for a survival horror game than a secret underground military research base? Not sure what aliens you would include as you’d want something that can move but not so large that it’s infeasible to kill with what would be on the base bearing in mind there’d be nothing more powerful than the Magnum probably.

garg?

I love that idea too…

How about a really, really sneaky bullsquid…it even spits acid!

or maybe, some thing goes into the blast pit room and nests, no one can get in, but people keep going missing and you hear screams…

I have some ideas too.

1.-Same as mattemuse but you are the alien. Everyone wants to hunt you (some will help you) but you have to find your own way home. Pretty boring but could be more like MGS… sneaking around. Multiplayer would be, cops against alien and sciencists.

2.-2 aliens from another world. Not vortigauns. 1 is a depredator (not the one in the movies) and the other one is like an aliencop. This could be made too to make it multiplayer and/or coop. Well, not coop. But like playing against the clock. The Depred. can try to escape and try to kill the cop. The cop has to hunt the depred. before he escapes.

3.-Gordon Freeman gets killed when he is looking for the enviroment suit. You have to follow the clues until you get the killer. Random killer every new game. Random clues…

I like this thread.

PS: Hello I’m newbie

Hi cancamuso, welcome to the forums xD -wanted to say that to someone for a while xD, I think the 1st two ideas are good, but the third one sounds a bit iffy if I am honest.

imo , if somebody wanted to turn HL around and into a survival horror game they’d have to make a new enemy from scratch as well , because the current ones dont really cut it

No way dude, gman would sooooo fit the part.

Btw, this actually sounds like a good idea for a mod.

EDIT: My bad double post :frowning:

erm … i was thinking something down the line of the alien from the alien movies like someone before me said , but i dont think that G-man being the main enemy in the game would be interesting - all the mystery that’s shrouding him would be gone and he’d be just another character

If this is serious I might set up a website for it.

SO do you guys reckon I should get a site set up and sort out a moddb page and all that?

If I did what name should I go with - I would be going with the horror/suspense theme.

EDIT: Sorry for the double post, but the thread would not count as updated if I just edited my previous.

There was a mod like this, but it died because

Are you going to finish that sentence?

The suspense is killing me!
