Does anyone know why after downloading the file and attempting to extract I get a message that says that the file is empty?
I’m having the same problem downloaded from file shack.
the only files that show up after i download the file is the blackmesa winrar file
blackmesa.md5 and the blackmesa setup why arent i getting the blackmesa.7z
This mod comes in a 7z file and a setup straploader. When I try to install this program, the setup straploader cannot process the 7z file. This mod MUST be repackaged as one archive or one self-extracting archive, instead of two files like above, so this doesn’t happen to anyone else. Any suggestions otherwise?
Try doing it manual. Reply if there is any issues.
Okay So the download for 2 parts took 3 hours
And When I go to Extract it it says its “The archive is either in unknown format or damaged”
Now what Do I do?
I just want to play those Downloads took Hours and All I get is this?
I, too, am having this problem. Windows Explorer flat-out refuses to open either of the files, and PeaZip wants a password.
It never asks me for a password and it never refuses to open it
It just wont extract it it says its Broken or Damaged
I’m Using WinRar to try to extract it.
Hopefully some of the mods can help or someone here…

I am having the same issue. When I go to download I get a message that says “Installation aborted. Setup was not copmleted successfully. Could not find BlackMesa.7z – did you download it?” and it stops the download obviously. I can’t proceed beyond this point. What do I do?

Easy fix…
Extract the BlackMesa.7z (use 7-zip extractor for best results) and extract the contents to a folder called BMS. Then copy the BMS folder to your sourcemods folder within Steam (paths are below).
32 bit OS - C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\sourcemods
64 bit OS - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\sourcemods
Run steam and enjoy
If this happens to you, most likely your downloaded file is corrupt and you need to re-download it 
Either try 7Zip, if that doesn’t help - redownload.
That happens sometimes when servers are under heavy pressure with a lot of people downloading (although it shouldn’t). Then you have no option then to redownload…
Well, WinRAR can open 7Zip files, so the .7z might show up to you as a WinRAR file.
Turn on file extensions, if you haven’t, and check if you actually have an .7z file, if .7z and .exe are in the same folder…
When trying to install, after a time I am presented with this in the log:
Sub item Errors: 6558
Failed to extract files. 7-Zip returned error code: 2
…and the only option I have is to cancel the install. Tried running as admin, with and without Steam open, download all of the Source SDK tools available, no change.
Any idea why this is happening or how I can fix it? I hope I don’t have to download it all again…

I’m getting this too. It goes through the installation for about 5 minutes then displays that the install was aborted. The last bits extracted were:

I tried both the GameFront and the Moddb servers; both are giving me invalid archives.
Hey try the Torrent option
I downloaded it in about 1 hour (I got slow connection)
it will prob go faster for you if you got faster Internet like Fios.

OK, I figured it out. It was probably just missing the MD5 hash; without that, the setup program doesn’t know what to do with the 7z file.
I also have the same problem exactly described as above
