4890 CF + 8800GT PhysX?

I have two XFX Xtreme Edition 4890s in CrossfireX and I was wondering if anyone here knows how to enable my 8800GT to be a dedicated PhysX card.

Full System Specs:

CPU: Intel i7 920 @3.3ghz
Motherboard: Asus Rampage II Extreme LGA1336
Case: Coolermaster HAF 932
RAM: 6GB (3x2GB) Crucial Ballistix DDR3 1600 (Flashing LED Version)
GPU: Two XFX Xtreme Edition 1GB GDDR5 Radeon HD 4890s in CrossfireX + 8800GT PhysX (hopefully)
PSU: Ultra X4 Modular 1050w PSU
Keyboard: Saitek Eclipse
Mouse: Logitech MX518
Sound Card: Republic of Gamers Creative Supreme X-Fi
Monitor: Dell 2008 21.5in 1680x1050 @60hz
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Retail

I don’t think you need any physx acceleration with those graphics cards.

Games like Cryostasis lag when PhysX is on, plus i want to put my spare 8800GT to use.

I’ve tried using the 1.02 fix from there with 195.62 drivers from Nvidia and i still can’t start up the control panel to activate physx.

As stated, you have to install old drivers, maximum version 185 for the Geforce.

no 64bit version?

I’m not even sure this will work, you should read the link posted by pfannkuchen_gesicht, there are many pages of people trying to get this to work.

thx, post back in a minute if it worked.

Edit: didn’t work. now the control panel icon disapeared.

I’ve tried the fixes and patches @ ngohq, but it doesn’t work.

bscly nVidia rapes you for trying to support them. bscly.

Im not supporting them. A friend of mine gave his two 8800GTs for my two unused 4850s.

Saying that you were trying to support them sounded better than “bscly nVidia rapes you. bscly.”

nVidia needs to get their head out of their ass and make some solid cards. All they’re doing right now is insulting intel (seen their comics? they’re not even that funny…) and trying (and failing miserably) to shut out the competition. ATI is just dominating them right now. Shame, really… a little competition for ATI would do great things for prices…
[color=’#212121’]Although ATI’s prices are still lower than nVidia’s…
Anyway, just my interpretation of the situation.

EDIT:

In certain games that are physx enabled (like arkham asylum and Mirror’s edge) it makes things more realistic - fluttering cloth, explosions, water, collisions, etc at a significant performance cost. nVidia GPUs can become dedicated physx processors to take the load off of the cpu.

I’ve been an ATi guy from the start, its just that my new mobo has 3 pci-e x16 2.0 slots, so i decided to try out physX.

Yeah, I know, I’m an ATI guy too, as long as they offer the best bang/buck, which they’ve been doing pretty consistently for a while now. I just think that nVidia should be able to do their thing better as well. At the very least it would make ATI’s bang/buck ratio even higher.

Holy shit, I finally got it working.

what was the trick?
