2016 Olympics

So, anyone followed the election for the host city?

It was 8:00 in the morning here in a holiday, so I thought I might as well see it. Turns out it’s gonna be Rio, which is like 300km away, so I’ll definitely be there if I’m still living here  .

Madrid had a more solid project IMO, but I’m still happy they’re hosting it here.

It’s in 2016, I guarantee that most people won’t care until they live through 2012.

I was under the impression that Rio was a third-world hellhole? Maybe I’m wrong, I’ve never been there.

Parts of it pretty much are, you just have to know where/when you wander about or you’ll most likely get robbed or even shot.

Rio is one of the most violent cities in the country, but they always cover the shit up and put up 300% extra security when there’s an event going on, like they did for the Pan-American games.

For the days the event lasts, crime occurrence goes down by like 90%, then when it’s over they bounce right back up. It’s quite fucked up really, but hey, half of the population here is composed of ignorant (uneducated, gullible as puppies) people, so you can’t ask much.

I’m going to lock myself into an isolation room a thousand meters underground to make sure I get through 2012.

I’m just glad it’s not chicago.

What’s supposed to happen in 2012?

You’ve never heard of it? Apparently because the Mayan calender ends on December 21, 2012 that the world’s gonna end.

Well, congratulations to Rio for getting the Olympics. That is if we live that long :fffuuu: .

Haha Chicago got the least amount of votes. Suck it Obama

Lol I can’t stand Obama.
I just want to go up to every supporter of his who still wear the retarded comparing-Obama-to-MLK shirts, and talk about his “change,” and ask them what good change he’s brought. He spent more in the first few months of his presidency than Bush did his entire time in office. And what has it gotten us? Zip. Good job, America! We were successfully fooled into turning the US election into a popularity contest. whispers softly Good job, America…

MmM…MmM…MmM… Barack Hussain Obama…

That’s unfair, the financial crysis started before his election so that’s why he spent thousands of billions $ (with more or less success).
Bush spent more than that with his irakian war which cost one billion $ a day (since it started in 2003 and there’s 365 day in a year, I’ll leave you the calculation)…

You really should be glad about the health system reforms and the amount of effort he’s putting in to stop your country from becoming bankrupt.
He’s also helped the international view on America GREATLY.

Y’know, being an Obama supporter, I’d answer to this (and the rest of your foolish post), but there isn’t a “Flames and Bullshit” section on this forum so I’ll leave it there.

[COLOR=‘Red’]Let’s get this back on topic though, shall we?

My apologies, raw_bean.

I’m glad that Rio got 2016. I wish it was the United States, but evidently, other venues were better according to the Olympic committee. I love watching the Olympics. Especially the female figure skaters (those that are of age, of course).

I’m pretty sure he was referring to living through the 2012 Olympics, as in “no one’s gonna care about 2016’s olympics until the next one is done”. I could be wrong though.

I suspect you are, as no one is thinking that the 2012 olympics will end the world.

One of my professors talked about it(and surprisingly, he talked about the financial status of the US and about how Bush and Obama have been handling it, but that is unrelated to the main topic). Not many people were losing sleep over Obama not winning us a closer Olympic spot.

Are you kidding? I was on the edge of my seat for the entire thing!
