As all of you should know, 10 years ago today, terrorists hijacked planes and crashed them into the World Trade Center towers in New York, the Pentagon building in Washington DC, and a fourth plane went down in a field in Pennsylvania thanks to the heroic sacrifice made by those on that plane.

About three thousand lives were lost that day. The Pentagon has since been repaired and the site of the WTC is now a memorial park.

After 9/11, I went down to DC to see the Pentagon and there was still a large gash in the side. It was heartbreaking.

To those that lost someone or know someone that lost someone, my heart goes out to you and yours. I cannot imagine what you must be going through right now.

nobody who didnt personally lose anyone really feels bad. no one is “mourning”, theyre just trying to save face
fuck
all
of
you

Having a good day are we?

I totally saw this reply coming from a mile away.

Those atom bombings where over 50 years ago, quit trying to act like you care about them to save face.

+1

us needs to stop QQing for the one time they were the ones losing lives on their own soil

9/11 was 10 fuckin years ago and not even like .01 as tragic

%4.53939394 technically, as far as casualties go.

Yeah, and they all got media attention and vigils and mourning (and threads) as well.

Shit happens. I was too young to feel bad about it at the time and I’m too cool to feel bad about it now.

Fancy pants, People don’t like you already.
I’d suggest you

 1. Quit being a bitch to everyone that isn’t a moderator
 2. Stop acting like your immune to the banhammer. You got lucky when Ram took pity on your case when Catz banned you all those months ago, but Your disrespect is next to intolerable here.

anyhow, back on topic.
I didn’t lose anyone that day (though one of my teachers would have been in the towers had she not left something at home that morning) but my heart goes out to everyone that was affected by 9/11/2001

Thanks for not reading the last sentence, folks. :tired:

I’m interested in this topic. The only person I know personally who was in the towers survived, but obviously it’s tragic what happened. And besides all the racism, I think it helped unite the nation a bit more, if briefly.

Folks, I kind of have to agree with fancy here, albeit a whole lot less dickishly.

Unfourtunately people die, and tragedies happen some times. What do you think is better for those families who have lost members? Let them get out of the average human 7 year mourning cycle and get back in the saddle, or bombard them with memories and endless media made by people who feel they have some alotment in the ordeal because they live in the same country, year after year after year after year?

If you’ve lost family to this, my heart goes out to you, for your loss, and for your having to re-experience this every year due to bored media outlets and busybodies jumping on your tragedy to gain attention.

If you havn’t lost family, and are still diving in on the “festivities” just because you’re an American, you don’t want to know what I think.

Today is my sister’s 21st birthday and I am partying.

But actually not because the majority of said partying was covered last night.

Today is for presents and dinner with family.

Well, it was a year ago actually, but yeah, pretty much. Some dictatorship began in Chile on this same date, but back in 1973, but that ain’t important.

10 years ago, everybody sympathized with the families victims. Today, 4 of 5 people on Earth don’t care either because they hate Americans or mostly because they’ve moved on.
Also Americans should think about the hundred thousands of deaths thanks to the war on terror “to avenge them” and our long gone liberties.

How insensitive are you all. I mean its not like on this day in history we didn’t kill 5 times as many people in Germany. Look it up. The Darmstadt firebombings. We killed like 11000 people and left 60000 homeless. yep America is the greatest country ever and everything we do is justified and perfect. But lets not think of that.

Really the only annoying thing here was people referring to Hiroshima as a “terrorist attack”. I recognize history is confusing, but you really should learn it.

Beyond that, read the OP and act accordingly, i.e. get out of the thread. If someone wants to mourn, let them. If someone wants to remember, let them. Its their right.

EDIT: God damn it you people get worse with every post. I feel bad to have been ninjaed by such shit.

Okay, I apologize for trying to observe the event. You guys are too cool for tragedies. I was hoping to have a heartfelt thread and we could be mature about this (hence the “if you don’t care about this, find another thread”), but, alas, I was mistaken.
