Speaking of Revell, The Strings on the Wright flyer actually came with the Kit Alongside instructions on how to rig it up.
Looking forward to seeing those pictures, thanks for the filler tip, I’ll look out for that as well.
More and more kit manufacturers seem to be including extra details like that in their kits and not before time!
Minor update…
A shot of my Defiant sporting a new aluminium undercoat. B-17 in the background, work has stalled on that while I forge away on the Defiant, though I am working on the landing gear (see below).
I’ve also now done the underside camo, basically flat sky.
While those were drying, I decided to do something about that stupid undercarriage the B-17 came with. Let’s face it, it was crap and looked ugly (even when it was painted).
Here’s what I started with:
Had some fun separating the wheel from the strut:
Sharp knife, lots of patience later^
Now the main spar… that’s supposed to be two spars and not one big block. Done for structural integrity, but I don’t care. Chop chop:
So yeah, that’s this weekend done for me. Will get some pics of the Defiant’s new underside and probably some camo by next week. I’ll also get that painted undercarriage for ya, blasted metallic paints take forever and a day to dry.
See thread about 1/35 models. Figure that this’d fit nicely on the Black Mesa website and in the thread. Post.

I’m too lazy to make anything like this, but I like everybody elses. You people are pretty skilled.
@m4rek do you remember the old Matchbox model kits? They made a nice B17G kit, the undercarriage was spot on!
Some of their kits were right dogs, but there were also quite a few gems, the B17 being one of them. I wish I still had my Matchbox model collection! I think I must have built about 150 of them, but what with all my house moves etc, I had to get rid of a huge chunk of my collection, now only my 1 : 35 scale armour and a few Airfix models are all that I still have.
Unfortunately I don’t own a camera but I’m a keen model maker
Dangling above my head we have a Chinook, an F/A-18 Hornet, a Lancaster, a Victor, an F-4 Phantom, a Hurricane, an F-15, and an F-16
Varying degrees of professionalism, but I like to think it shows my development . Dusting them is a pain though
