I was amazed since I figured it was scrapped over a year ago and didn’t expect people to spend their own time and resources to do something for free. Being wrong can be a good thing sometimes.

Huh. Didn’t even know about this until I read it on The Escapist… And I call myself a fan. I’m back after not having been here in a few months, if that tells you my reaction. (Hint: It’s pretty ecstatic)
First thing I did was fall off my couch. Then I calculated when exactly I´ll be downloading it. 4:45pm on friday.
Then I set my CD alarm to wake me with the Black Mesa Soundtrack at that time.
4 and a half days left to go. Getting closer.

When I saw the count down I raised an eyebrow and leaned over to my friend and smirked (because I knew he would owe me money) and told him.
Initially, was all “SWEET!”
Then became really, really unenthused about it. It took way too long, the developers have been famously rude (sorry, nothing excuses it) and will probably not live up to the hype.
That said, I’m still going to support it and the people who put so much work into it, and starting with low expectations means that I’m only going to be impressed, rather than let down by something that is still basically just a mod.
The devs haven’t been rude at all. We’re the ones who’ve been rude, we’re not the fucking devs you shithead.
The developers have been rude on occasion when the community has frustrated them. They are human, and have human feelings with human tempers.
You aren’t helping any by adding to the bad vibes. now is a time for celebration. Now is a time for good vibes. Can the hatred and share the love.

Don’t make excuses for them. I know lots of devs that have had stressful, shitty jobs and don’t take it out on their fans.
That said, I did say I was going to be supporting them regardless. But that doesn’t mean that, just because I think their work is good and I applaud them for finishing something so ambitious (whatever the quality is,) that their shit doesn’t stink. It’s not a hard concept to grasp, even though I know this community has just been one big circle jerk for the past five years.
And telling me that my opinion is wrong is kind of retarded. It’s an opinion. Like assholes, everyone has one.
Little crybaby wants the devs to pay him back for those precious minutes he wasted checking this site for updates, but that doesn’t mean they were rude… they owe you nothing
Calm down, guys, jeez. The devs have been a bit pissy at times, but like TheeGoatPig said, they’re human. The man’s entitled to his own opinion, so there’s no need to get all angry at him about it.
