You spoiled the word with overuse!

And that depends on whether the developers are going to stick to the HL2 rendition of Vortigese, or make some callbacks to the original “flux shifting” speech. So far, it seems like the former is winning. But yes, some - for lack of a better term - humanization of the Vortigaunts would be a nice if spurious addition, as it would serve to bind the lore between HL1 and HL2. Because seeing the Vortigaunts as foes, then going into stasis, and waking up with them as allies? If I were Gordon,

Well, like Famguy said, they’re not making any changes to the canon, and so far with their current use of spoken Vortigese, it looks like they’re going with that.
But I agree, suddenly seeing enemies turn ally with almost no in-between would be very jarring.

104 days passed and still nothing.

OMG V@P0RWEERRRRRR

Well my birthday is coming up soon, so maybe i’ll get a present.

hint* hint* a picture por favor?*

Patience is a virtue!

Wouldn’t “summer” imply something like June - August?

Yeap! You can also drag it to September 20th.

I hope they don’t do that. It’d be kind of a dick move, I don’t know anyone personally who considers that far into september to still be summer.

They never promised a summer release, they said they´re AIMING for it. So I don´t think there´d be anything dick about it, even they drag to next christmas.

Honestly if they release Xen 2-3 month later after summer to work on HECU animations and human animation in generall,I’ll be happy because seeing those combine and metrocop animations aren’t satisfying because it is a new game and it was normal back when it was a mod,not a standalone game.

Well, as opposed to antlions, who are from Xen but weren’t in the original game and could therefore be considered non-canon if included, Vortigaunts in the first part of the Grunt Factory specifically had their relationship towards the player set to friendly, in both the Goldsrc and Source versions. So expanding on this could still fit within the developers’ ideas of canon

For those of us who have reach the last chapter of the game and compleated it will we be able to start from there or will we have to start from the beginning of the game?

@Nonimportantuser
Why would you have to start over?
Just save the game before you jump into the portal and you’ll be transported to Xen.

I could see why he’d ask. Sometimes save files aren’t totally compatible between different versions of games, even ones that don’t replace the last 1/6th in an update.

This one probably won’t though since it’s more like modifying existing files rather than moving a save between two different versions of an entire game

Worst case scenario you can start a new game from the Lambda Core chapter, or even from the first chapter of Xen.

I was actually referring to the jarring switch between Half-Life and Half-Life 2, when the Vorts are suddenly allies with very little explanation. Poor Gordon must be reeling.
I have no doubt there’s gonna be a lot done with the grunt factory, maybe something to drive the fact home a bit better that the Vortigaunts are slaves, and only have free will outside the presence of an Alien Controller.

Gordon Freeman was in stasis for almost 20 years, not too jarring if you consider that timeframe.

True, but it’s unlikely Gordon was watching over the world while he was out cold. To him it likely feels like he was in Black Mesa just barely a few hours ago.

Well, I mean, it’s Xen. There are sure to be lots of code changes/additions what with the new NPCs and such.

Hopefully won’t break saves, but it might.

Even if it does break saves, it’s easy enough to just restart whichever map you were on.

Indeed, simply load the map in the console.
Only bad thing about it you will start fresh,
so your ammo, health and suit energy count will be by default.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
