I hate to detract from the butthole talk, but I’ve got a (somewhat) related question to the screenshot. In Half Life lore, the antlions were farmed by the vortigaunts for their extract (as used at the beginning of Episode 1/the Alyx scene in Episode 2) on their home world, before they fled to Xen to escape the Combine. The implication in Half Life 2 is that they were supposed to have been in Xen, but they obviously were never encountered. Since the shot above looked somewhat reminiscent of the antlion caves in episode 2, my question is, will you be trying to work them into Xen? I understand you said you wouldn’t be taking too many liberties, but it would be quite interesting to see them pop up, even in a minor fashion.
I loved this game so much. And funnily enough it sort of had a similar atmosphere and story to HL2 and uses orange and blue portals for game mechanics, like Portal.
An Organic-bio-mechanical alien world that seeks to consume, augment and assimilate species and civilizations across the Universe. And it’s fauna had a somewhat crude and almost sexual symbolism, fleshy vaginal and anus doors, like the one in the picture.
We’ve waited a decade since the project was first started, another couple months without new Xen media isn’t going to kill anyone.
Just be patient, don’t call on the devs to ruin the surprise.
So what do you think will make you feel ready? I have some candles, a nice bottle of vintage, a vinyl player, and between you and me I cook a mean steak!
If that doesn’t get you in the mood, I dunno what will.
