Far Cry 2 i think. I only tried it at a friend and it was ok. I just don’t see the anything at all from the original far cry. So basicly ubisoft took the name from crytek (the original creators) put the game’s name on a new game which ha absolutely nothing to do with the original.
It’s in africa, not a tropical island.
There are no mutants.
You don’t play as Jack Carver.
and so on…
I am surprised I forgot about that one. It really was idiotic. The first one had large areas to explore and find things in. Similar areas in the second one were closed off by invisible walls and/or had nothing in them to discover. What was up with that? The Skaarj were only in part of the game and apparently had 10x the hit points of the previous game (when a sniper rifle is ineffective at point blank range, and takes multiple shots to down an enemy on easy, something is wrong).
I really hated Unreal 2. And yet, I am tempted to reinstall and play it one last time, as the first time I was having diver issues that screwed up all of the textures in the game.
No offense, but shut the fuck up and stop playing shooters. If you think COD 2 was bad, you may want to take a look at the words “suck”, “good”, “bad”, etc.
Seriously, you better be joking about the first part about half-life, because If you’re complaining about how terrible Half-Life was, then why the hell are you even on a forum that’s dedicated to a mod that remakes Half-Life?
Quake was a little more than ok since it nearly removed the following that Wolfenstein/Blake Stone/Doom/Heretic/Hexen had taken…
I wont comment on the Half Life jabs…
But Deus Ex taking a big sloppy shit?? Did you even bother playing the game?! I STILL play it. Thank God steam kept it going. DE: IW was a step down honestly… not the best sequal… It didnt blow hard but it wasnt better either.
Go one more back… and you have a point. DE was like the Goldeneye for its time period and genre for computer games.
Agreed. I’ve been a fan since before id was branched from the originals of Wolfenstein… I still have every form of Doom made (yes… not just the versions given by Steam). Doom 3 was slightly predictable (IE if you see a red light, brace yourself). but otherwise its a delicious title. Though, the name should have been changed. Because it isnt a sequal.
My personal opinion, they could have done Thief 3 a little better. I was in love with the first one, then the Metal Age came out and I was even more enthralled, then the third came out and I was… a little less enthralled.
Agreed on Thief 3 - not the worst sequel ever but they certainly coud have done better. Here’s hoping Thi4f is a return to form (not holding my breath though).
I figured… I figured. Except for Jam. Wasnt sure about his comment. Hard to tell sarcasm through text you know.
Yeah Thief 4… not even sure if they are doing it… are they? Either way, they need to go back to the way they had it. Just get up to date coding and rendering. MAYBE ragdoll physics, but not as harsh as some of the games (to keep realistic properties like in the other games. pretty sure when you knock someone over the head with a black jack they dont pile drive in the ground and bounce back up a foot before settling down on the ground in the THE MOST hilarious positions).
I actually enjoyed Far Cry 2, just not it’s astronomical system requirements. As for Jack Carver, many people think that he’s The Jackal. And you can see some resemblence between the two, except for their voices. I dunno.
Deus Ex: Invisible War wasn’t as bad as a lot of people say, but it didn’t nearly live up to the original.
I couldn’t even get past the first mission of Mercenaries 2 before getting excessively bored.
And I couldn’t stand Call of Duty 3, either. I loved 1, 2, and 4. And I think that WaW is decent.
Say what you will about COD WAW, it has the best soundtrack out of all the games in the series
To be honest, when not blinded by it’s sucess, HL2 dissapointed me a lot. The episodes more than made up for it, but I only played through HL2 to find out more about the story. I felt like I enjoyed it, but when I looked back, I realized there wasn’t much FUN in the game. It was just interesting. It’s like watching documentaries about UFOs. You know as much about them after watching as you do before, but when you’re WATCHING it, you feel like you’re learning something. But you aren’t.
