Meh, I’m sure that if that play had happened in the middle of the game instead of the end, Ghana would have been able to score some goals much more easily, because of the extra man. That’s why I think that the rule isn’t flawed.

Nothing against Germany or Argentina (Really, I swear!), but it’s about time someone gets it other than the “Big Five” (Brazil, Germany, Argentina, Italy, Uruguay).
Whether it is Spain or Netherlands I don’t really care tbh, both have great teams with some really amazing players. I hope Argentina gets to the final though, can’t get enough of Messi’s style haha

Uruguay? They haven’t been one of the big five since very long ago. The ‘Maracanazo’ is old history (and the 1930 WC is ancient history) and they haven’t done anything worthwile for the past 50 years.
Think about it this way: If you could choose any of the 3 teams you play against during the first phase of any World Cup (not just this one where they got lucky and cheated), which one would you choose between Argentina, Uruguay, Germany and Italy?
I sure would pick Uruguay. Hell, I’d rather face Uruguay instead of facing England, France, the Netherlands, etc. (I repeat, I’m not talking about this WC in particular).
Yeah, I know, but they’ve still won it two times and tradition counts a lot in the World Cup, just look at the results from the other teams who have won multiple times .
But what I meant by that was, that I really would like seeing a team that hasn’t won yet win it this time, specially with Spain and Netherlands with such great teams.
I’d be crucified in my country for saying this, but I wouldn’t feel bad if Argentina got it this year though… Messi surely deserves that title in his career. And the same goes for Tevez, Higuain, Milito & co.
I’m afraid at how big Maradona’s ego would be though… can’t stand much of him the way he already is. Can’t even imagine how he’d get if he won the WC both as a player and as a coach :fffuuu:. Specially when, in my opinion, he shouldn’t get any credit for Argentina’s achievements. Argentina’s team is all about their players’ talent and Maradona hasn’t done anything worth of mention to this team tbh.

And concerning your main point, I see what you are saying, and totally agree on the Netherlands part. However, I hope Spain gets kicked off ASAP.
I hate teams that think thay’ve already got everything figured out and that the road to the cup is smooth. They need to get off their high horses. Think about Argentina in 2002. We were pictured as the main candidates to win the cup and we didn’t even pass the group stage. No one wins the cup before the tournament has even started, and Spain needs to learn that, the hard way.
I’d actually like to see that…it would be a nice and unexpected change.
